Millwall attacker battling injury ahead of Charlton derby

SCOTT McDonald is an injury doubt for Millwall's trip to Charlton.

The Lions head to The Valley on Saturday to face their south London rivals but McDonald, who scored the winner in this fixture last season, could miss out.

The Australian is touch and go with a minor groin problem.

Manager Ian Holloway said: "We've had a few injuries. Danny Shittu missed a few days of training last week, though he was back on Thursday.

"McDonald has a torn groin – it's a grade one tear. It was only going to keep him out for two weeks when he did it so we might just get away with it for the weekend, but I'm not sure."

Is this why he was dropped vs Brentford? It would explain the mystifying decision.....Aldo, any thoughts?

Upson can play that role, he really needs a strong performance.

Too many injury-prone players - Chaplow and Bailey (remember him?) should be on loan list and get rid EOS. In fact, a big clear out still long overdue.

@dude: How many starts has Bailey had for us since he signed? 28 apparently, out of about 80 matches! Considering he will be one of the highest earners that was a really poor signing. Definitely need to let him and Chaplow go when their contracts expire a the end of the season. And before the end of this season, please Mr Ambler, sign up Upson and Williams on longer deals so we don't lose them on frees.

    Nice Monday morning headline!!
Well, it's an opportunity for someone else to step up.. Upson's a good shout, Woolford should be well rested and sharper, as should Gueye... HECK! MARTINEZ might even get a run out!!! Heard he was going to be playing in that QPR game... any word of how he performed???
EVERYBODY in the squad should be chomping at the bit for this one. COYL.

Push Upson into the McD role and have Powell in the Upson role alongside Williams

@foxy: That team was tough as nails, but the game is much faster now so players do get more injuries.

Hurlock and Les Briley hardly ever injured.
Although Hurlock used to injure opposing players quite nicely.

Roll on the end of this season and bye bye to a lot of these injury prone players.
Just hoping that we can survive and start all over again building a new squad with our youngsters playing a part.
    Up the wall.
