Millwall boss could bring Jermaine Easter back into the fold

JERMAINE Easter could return to the Millwall fold after impressing in a series of reserve games, manager Ian Holloway has revealed.

Easter, who was made available for loan in October, has attracted interest from a host of clubs in League One and turned down a temporary switch to Crawley this week.

The striker, 32, has not featured for the Lions since their 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest in September but could be involved again after the international break.

Holloway confirmed: "Jamma got a goal against QPR yesterday – that's two in two now – so I might have to bring him back in. He's shown a good attitude.

"You can't ignore that as a manager. You're always looking for a response from your players – if you get a good one and the team's not winning, then you can make a change.

"I'm all about people who want to do it and have a go, and I'm going to stick to that."

Ollie will probably bring him in instead of Gregs, or play gregs as left wing again. Mind you Easters height would be menacing in the box.

Griggs need to be nurtured up front and he will come good.

You could always try playing Easter at Right Back seeing as you've played everyone else there!

@Tayls: He also was going to Bristol Rovers but their board wouldn't sanction the transfer. Probably due to his wages as I can't imagine we're actually asking for a transfer fee.
I see no reason why he should come back into the first eleven anyway.

Is this a back handed way of saying that we won't be buying another striker in January?

Its just plain wierd,Easter only scores in nothing games and dont cause a threat imo so what goes through IHs mind. Maybe iam wrong and I would love to see him score loads but it isnt going to happen,he has had enough chances to prove his worth. It just means more changes to a team that changes every week so why should we expect any thing else. Mind you he scored against those geeky nerdy trainspotting anorak wearing nonces and who are up next.

I'd forgotten all about Easter. A Division One/Two player at best - I couldn't believe it when Ollie offered him another contract (up there with his decision to keep Marquis on). Ollies brought in some promising players like Williams and Gregory, but he's also signed some real pony too.

@Micky Lions: it's common knowledge that KJ signed Easter and his one year contract extension was agreed before Lomas joined, let alone Ollie. He had nothing to do with signing Easter after his initial loan deal.

I think Holloway is looking at history prior to the anorak game. Easter scored on his debut with an assist from Charlie Chaplin if I'm correct 2 seasons ago

Sorry as a previous post said its going backwards we should be looking towards the future its nice to know the lads got a good attitude he should do we still pay his wages I hope his next club appreciate it . Whenever given the chance I always thought Jermaine was a little off the pace probably not helped by the fact he was rarely given a run of games but as we all know strikers need goals to keep their place and that didn't seem to happen.

Is this some sort of joke. I scored two goals the other week in 5 a side. Does that suddenly mean I'm in with a shot. Easter is one of those that needs to be out with Hoyte and other deadwood who are not up to it at this level or at our club. Gregory should be starting every game. Watch his runs and his desire for the ball and you can see the makings of a very good striker like when Harris first arrived from non league. Goals will come as long as he's on the pitch and not on the bench.

3 against wolves,2 each against blackburn and brentford,it's not goals we need ollie it's defending our own goal that is the problem,if i had to choose betweeen o'brien and easter i would go for o'brien, easter has had his chance's and blown them every time, yes he is a live wire then so is o'brien.look when o'brien paired with gregory they looked good,o'brien pulled their back four around so as to make gap's for gregory, before flicking a great ball on for gregg's to score[birmingham i think],so come on ollie give o'brien his chance easter has had enough chances.

@jim1222: we bought in webster(why).cos he is a natural centre back.we got the impression that beevers & webster would be the pairing for the whole season..imo they should of been right at the start of the season..it would have given them time to form a partnership..the same goes for the front 2.how frustrating it has been to get lee on the pitch.we were also told that O'brien would feature alot more then he has.surely it makes sense to have LG &OB pairing..seeing that fuller, easter ,shittu & robbo put out to pasture..olly dont want 20min players.

The only way I can make heads or tails of this is IH is taking this a game at a time - because this is not a long term solution. Easter is still being paid and if he's looking good and looking more likely to score than the others - then too right, play him.
But ideally, (IN THE LONG TERM) we let Easter go and Ranegie will probably go - this will free up a fair few quid.
Very much looking forward to next season when we can re build.

Gregory should start, no discussion. The question should be who will partner him up front. Macdonald also has to start.

I could not believe it when mcdonald was dropped for the brentford game,he had started to come good in his new position then he gets dropped, its madness on IH part.
I still support ollie but i think there is to much going on in his head,if only he would make it a bit more simple, like getting his best back four whoever they may be and keep them untill they lose their place through injury, bad form or suspension, then tell whoever takes there place if they play well the shirt is their's,and whoever was injured,or dropped has to wait their chance again,IMO this is the best way to get competition for places and player's will know where they stand.

@jim1222: Agreed, Jim. A settled side would be great. All this stuff about needing fresh players is nonsense. Just keep the back four and the spine of the team consistent:

      Wilkinson Webster Beevers Malone
      Williams
      McDonald
      Gregory

Then slot whoever you like in around them. I'd probably always want to have Martin in there as well.

@jim1222: yes mate, MacD is our best player and is getting better every game, it was madness. I am still a fan of Ollie for the style of football we play under him but he has to stop tinkering with the spine of the team. By that I mean playing this list of players every game that he can
      Forde
      Webster
      Beevers
      Williams
      Macdonald
      Gregory
