Gregory lays claim to Millwall's first goal against Brentford

LEE Gregory insists there is no doubt that he scored Millwall's first goal against Brentford.

Danny Shittu's was initially credited with it but replays showed that Gregory forced the ball over the line.

The former non-league hotshot went to see the referee after the game to confirm that he had got the final touch.

That means Gregory has now scored three goals in his last seven appearances.

"It was definitely mine," Gregory said. "Anything that comes off me in the box and goes in is my goal!

"I went in to see the referee after the game to check that he jotted my name down on his report.

"I'm going to claim everything because that's what strikers do.

"It's my first season as a professional so I want as many goals as possible – it came off my back and I'm claiming it.”

Gregory then had a chance to put the Lions ahead for the first time in the match but headed Matthew Briggs' cross against the woodwork.

"I was too far over at the front post – maybe if I'd taken a step back it would have flown in," he said.

"These are the things that I'll try to take into my next performance. We would have been 3-2 up then and the game would have been ours, so that's what makes it worse."

Such a great attitude and he will prove to be so important this season! He will finish with 15-20 goals this season and keep us away from relegation!!

Didn't need replays to see that from my vantage point in the south upper. Very bemused when it was awarded to Shitts. Keep up that attitude Gregs and you'll go on to be a great striker.

@southlondon1885: you could see it was his from the West upper as well. Not sure if he'll get 15 but 10 would be a great start for us, twenty plus next season . Ironically if we got relegated Gregory and Easter would be blinding in League 1. Just need a top striker in this league. Let's hope it's Gregory.
