Briggs and Malone could miss Millwall's game at Watford

BOTH of Millwall's recognised left backs are injury doubts for Saturday's trip to Watford.
Scott Malone missed last weekend's 1-0 victory over Cardiff City with a thigh strain while his replacement in the side, Matthew Briggs, limped off with a calf problem.
And manager Ian Holloway is unsure if either defender will be fit to play at Vicarage Road.
Holloway said: "Both of my left backs look like they'll be out, so I might have to move Mark Beevers there like I did against Cardiff.
"Briggs' calf injury isn't as serious as we first thought and Malone might be training again tomorrow, but I don't if they'll be available for Saturday."
Always something that buggers it up when things are looking good !
I don't fancy beevers at left back for 90 mins do you?, reckon we have no choice, or do we have one of the under 21s could slip in.
Josh Safia coulkd do a job
@foxy: Wlliams can play there but that messes up the midfield. On the other hand if Beevers is moved to left back that will be the excuse to bring back Dunne at centre back and I would rather see Webster there. Wilkinson, Shittu, Webster and Beevers wouldn't be a bad back four for one match.
@denslions: If Bailey was fit then you could put Bailey where Williams normally plays and Williams LB for a short while but I would rather see Woolie there tbh.
@denslions: good shout mate, for me I would put webster left back, beevers shittu and wilkinson.
As much as I think Dunne is now a squad player I'd rather put him at left back than Beevers.
Makes it easier for Holloway to get the captain back in the team after Shittu's stormer.
@wall2wall: Dunno about that. Dunne is no left back. What's probably going to happen is Beevers at left back with Shittu and Webster in the middle. He's not going to move a quality right back in Wilkinson over to the left hand side. It's a shame about the injuries, but it's rare to have both left backs injured at the same time. Good job we've got some flexibility in the defence. WhaT worries me personally is that with Shittu and Wilkinson justifiably holding down their positions that Ollie finds room for Dunne. That would be an error IMO.
I think Beevers would get slaughtered at left back.
Cardiff missed a trick there on Saturday thankfully.
Don't be surprised if you see wilkinson moved to left back and dunne In at right back.
Woolford could do that Job, he's done it before , and done it well, he's quick, puts a tackle in decent in the air ,left footed and well disciplined. We can cover the midfield with the others.
@bordersarebest0170: not a bad shout. Too early for Siafa or Wilkinson IMO
@bordersarebest0170: Woolford is the best candidate for me, but I would instruct Williams to move over to the left and keep an eye on him from time to time as Woolford will probably get caught out of position against a quick team like Watford. Hopefully Malone or Briggs will be fit and this is just a smoke screen. COYL
Why not go for 3 at the back? Beevers and Webster can make up for what shittu lacks in pace plus we can leave Williams in the holding role he's excelling in.. Fred/woolford and Martin out wide upson in the middle, McDonald behind greggers and fuller!! Effectively a 3-5-2 diamond think the lads will play well like that and Watford would never expect it
@taz1987: Because then you would have 3 slow defenders which will then hamper the midfield because the wingers will have to come back to stop them getting in behind us and you would to often end up with a back 5, getting overrun in the midfield and then be under constant pressure with no outlet. If we had some pacey CBs then yes but we don't.
watford would murder us with three at the back, got to be a solid back four and Beevers is the best option to fill in with Shittu and Webster at centre back. Dunne dont feature for me, nothing personal on Dunney but he just aint good enough imo. COYL.
@LETEMCOME: waiting for someone to come up with 3 CBs.definately not the way to go.as for playing the diamond.the team have proven that they can play it..but not without losing..plus i dont know what game olly was watching cos webster was out on the left most of the time he was on..
@LETEMCOME: Agree about Dunne 100%. He'll probabbly end up coaching the U'18'S or the Lionesses. A good man to have around, but not up to the Championship level. The squad will evolve and we've all lasted longer than all the Millwall managers so I think it's ok personally to have an opinion even if some people don't agree with it.
@NICKOLA:
It's ok to have an opinion. Trying to belittle or mug off a very loyal player who's as much Millwall as you are(probably more cos your a prize p****) is just pathetic and un called for. You sir, are a no nothing c***.
@82wall: Why don't you play there? Obviously your ego will fill the goal.
play Abdou there, he'll always run his socks off, and stick to the opposing player. Beevers will get murdered.
@Alexdangelo: never got murdered when Jacket played him there. In fact we knocked Villa out of the cup with Beevers at left back.
@Alexdangelo:
I love abdou to death but he's barely got a right foot never mind a left foot.
click LIKE if you want Dunne on the bench, click DISLIKE if you want Dunne back at centre half as Captain?
(I can't find any other positive thing that comes from having a dislike button on a forum site? If people dont like the comment, you wont see any likes. I don't get it Aldo? Why not change it to 'LOVE' and 'HATE')
@Alexdangelo: . . . or Agree and Disagree!
There's two things in life you should know:
1) don't bother having under 21s if you don't think there good enough, and at the ages they are we should know by now if they are good enough or they wouldn't be here would they???
2) at the end if the day it gets dark
Coyl
That's end of the day (bloody iPhone)
@mfcmike: or if the day gets dark...it's probably the end.
Why do fans kerp saying that dunne is not championship level.when he's been playing in it for 5 years..all this so called big league we're in is really the old second division..and i remember alot of better players in that one then this..gordon hill teddy keith weller is just a few
@Jim28: I'm with you Jim, Dunne is proven at championship level, he is maybe not a GREAT championship player, but he does a job for the team and sometimes that and leadership is enough.
Personally I thought Brigg didn't have a great game against Cardiff. He got caught in possession many times and often out of position. How about Woodford at LB?
Jimmy abdou?
