Millwall agree deal for German left-back

MILLWALL are poised to sign young Hamburg defender Lennard Sowah on a three-month loan deal.

The former Arsenal and Portsmouth trainee was in the stands as Millwall drew 1-1 with Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The 19-year-old has made appearances for Germany at U16, U18 and U19 level, although has yet to make his senior bow for Hamburg in the Bundasliga.

Sowah holds the title of being the youngest-ever player to make an appearance in the Premier League since it was formed in 1993.

Boss Kenny Jackett has been looking to sign a left-back throughout the January transfer window, and has also been tracking Stevenage's Scott Laird and Dundee's Paul Dixon in recent weeks.

However, it seems his search for defensive reinforcements has come to an end with Sowah's arrival expected to be announced later on Monday.
