MILLWALL striker Darius Henderson has pleaded not guilty to a GBH charge and will stand trial at St Albans Crown Court the week commencing August 20.

Henderson, 30, was arrested on New Year's Day following an altercation at a Hertfordshire restaurant.

He has been accused of causing grievous bodily harm without intent, a charge that carries a maximum prison sentence of five years under Section 20 of the Offences against the Person Act.

The three-day trial will begin just 48 hours after the Lions' first Championship fixture of the season – against Blackpool at The Den on August 18.

Henderson's 19 goals last season have attracted the attentions of several clubs this summer, but interested parties would have just eight days after the conclusion of his court case to complete a deal before the transfer window closes.

And Millwall would be left with little time themselves to source a replacement – meaning they may have to make a decision on Henderson's future sooner rather than later.
