Woolford: "Perfectionist" Ollie will keep raising standards

MARTYN Woolford says Millwall will "keep improving" under Ian Holloway after winning their first three games of the new season.
Woolford scored the match-clinching goal in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Fulham.
And the winger believes Holloway will continue to raise standards at the club – because he is a "bit of a perfectionist".
Despite holding on to beat the Cottagers, the Lions boss was unhappy with his players' ball retention in the second half and called for them to "believe in their passing more".
And Woolford said: "It's a great start to the season but we'll go away and look at the things we didn't quite get right. All we can do is keep improving.
"The manager is a a bit of a perfectionist so he's looking at every little thing we can improve, which can only be a good thing.
"We're learning all the time and getting better and better."
Woolford paid tribute to Millwall's travelling fans who turned out in huge numbers in west London.
"The fans were brilliant," he said. "When they get behind you, it's a great feeling. It's a great club to play for.
"I really enjoyed the game – it's the first time I've played here.
"We had a couple of good chances to score again but I think the defensive performance from the lads was really good.
"It was a tough test because Fulham keep the ball well and shift it about."
Under Holloway, Millwall are now unbeaten in 11 competitive fixtures.
"It is a great run," Woolford said. "Even before the wins started coming, the performances were getting to where we wanted them to be. Our organisation was getting there.
"We're getting the rewards from that and each win is building up our confidence.
"It's all down to the manager because there aren't a lot of new faces here. The way he got us organised in such a short space of time last season was a credit to the way he works.
"We're confident that if we play our game, regardless of the opposition, and we do the things the manager is asking of us, we can pick up points in every game."
The Lions are sitting second in the fledgling Championship table but Woolford won't be paying any attention to the league standings anytime soon.
"At the minute we're just concentrating on the next game and keeping the confidence from the performances that we're putting in and the wins that we're getting," he said.
"I won't be looking at the league table for quite some time!"

Great performance, had a great day. Would like to thank Fulham Fc, for showing Millwall fans, the way to get a decent beer and food, when you get to a ground. There was ample bars, that had COLDISH beer available, and plenty of staff, and plenty of food outlets. It makes a change of the pint of froth that you have to queue up for half an hour, while the girl on the till, goes to the shelf, takes a bottle beer (so they call it). Pours it, takes to money , then does the same thing again. Its ridiculous the way they run the food outlets, they should sell draft beer, staff pouring in advance, it aint rocket science. They need to sort this out, just to make the day a better experience, and treat the fans with some respect, just like Fulham did. We as fans need to address the food and drink situation, Peter Garston if you read these posts, please can you have a word, maybe ask the fans what they want !
@sups8892: I agree with sups8892's observation about the poor range of food and beer presented to our fans. The choices are: commercial mass-produced bitter or commercial mass-produced lager or choosing to have neither. Wouldn't the club make more money by respecting the tastes of us fans?
Could we run a poll article on this site for market research? No doubt guest ales are going to cost more, so voting options of
a) buy current lager;
b) buy current bitter;
c) pay 50p more for guest ale on tap.
@SE14: 7 likes and no dislikes to my post in an hour and suddenly 10 dislikes in the space of 5 minutes. Hilarious!
@sups8892: Its a tricky one, Millwall say they dont sell enough to do Draft beer, it would end up going off and thrown away. What we do need is a much better choice of bottled beers
@Steve: True, a better selection of bottles would be good... But the figures millwall have for how much we drink could be a bit of a false reading by now because fans are probably sick of paying £4 for not even a pint of Carlsberg p***! (I know I am, can you tell?!) Most people would either buy a few tinnies (£1!) or go have a pint in a proper glass down the pub, before the game.... If we had the lager/bitter on tap I reckon fans would be more prepared to pay for a pint of decent draught. (London pride would my choice!) Also, as sups8892 says, you can pre pour the beers before half time and cut the queues down...
p.s. if we did start pouring draught - wouldn't it be nice if the powers that be trusted us to bring plastic cups into the stand... like how they do it at the rugby... bit difficult to lob a plastic cup on the pitch... plus we could watch the game while enjoying a beer....
@Luke ColdBlow10: Brilliant idea regarding plastic pint cups in stand. I will go down to my cave to design a plastic cup incapable of being thrown more than 2 yards, also without spilling on another fan causing a punch (which the press would love; patent pending). Another obvious idea would be to pre-buy coupons for beer so there is no money exchanged.
@SE14: Hahaha, you're right, we can't be trusted!
Some of the posts from Fulham fans about our supporters and how loud we were makes me realise again that I was born into supporting the best club in the land. No doubt about it
I didn't realise Woolford was only 28, for some reason I assumed we picked him up at the tail-end of his career and he was aleady into his 30s when we signed him! Always rated him at Scunthorpe where he regularly gave us the runaround and now, under Holloway's coaching, he has the time on his side to become one of the top players in his position outside the Prem.
You're just too good to be true
can't keep my eyes off you
you'd feel like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
at long last love has arrived
and I thank God I'm alive
you're just too good to be true
can't take my eyes off of you
Woolford for England!

@WestKentLion: Cheers pal I was at the game was f king brilliant good to review it and the noise was unreal thank you Millwall NOLU WDC
You know times are good when we can't agree on who the best player so far has been because of so many great performances
@Bones: for me 2 have been the the most improved & outstanding .they are dunno & jimmy.
Personally I would play Woolford in a much more of an advanced No 10 role, he's a good finisher, skilful, he's built like a brick s*** house and is fit as a flee. Fuller has done well for us since he's come in, but if we cant secure another striker by the deadline Wooly is an option for me.
Woolford/Beevers/Wesbter/Gregory, with this many Yorkshiremen in the squad we'll have to rename our ground 'T'Den'. Well done Woolie, you've continued the improvement showed end of last season and cemented yourself in the team. A rare mix of skillful technique and tough grit, well worth the money in my opinion.
@glyngo: perhaps we can go t'den to have a pint o'beer (of the draught variety)... COYL
would take a point if offered now at Wednesday to keep the run going with 2 very winable home games to follow. But cant see Ollie settling for that somehow and who am i to argue lol. how i would love us to get a big goalscorer in now.
