Webster set for Lions medical after returning from holiday

BYRON Webster's Millwall medical is pencilled in for tomorrow.

The former Yeovil Town defender, who has verbally agreed to join the Lions after his Huish Park deal expired, is back in the country after returning from a family holiday.

And the 27-year-old is due at The Den on Tuesday for final talks and to undergo a medical.

It is understood the only outstanding detail to be finalised is the length of the centre back's contract, but those negotiations are expected to be a formality.

A two-year deal is the most likely outcome.

Boss Ian Holloway says Webster's "versatility" will strengthen Millwall's back four.

    Looks like they'll be some competition at the back then.
    Edwards, Webster, Beevers, Malone.
    On paper, not bad, not bad at all.

      @benzo: He is a quality player who looked at home at the chamionship level, he scores goals and can play with the ball at his feet. These are all reasons to be cheerful, I'm not saying that he is the second coming, but he is defintiely a good addition to the squad. Yeovil went down, yes, but you can't blame him for that. He was one of their players that really stood out.

    I think Beevers will now be on his way when they agree a fee with Rotherham.
    I reckon he will go for about 350k.
    Hope I'm wrong because I like him but definately think Webster was brought in to replace him.
    Welcome to Millwall Webster.

      @wall2wall: I hope you are wrong about Beevers. With Shittu, Robinson and Dunne all on the wrong side of 30 and IH saying he wants a younger team he s hardly likely to let him go.

        @denslions: & Bolland.
        I hope we dont lose Beevers either but when asked about Rotherham's original offer of 100k Holloway's reply was that we paid 250k for him and they must be dreaming or still hungover from their promotion party to offer so little. He did not say that he wasn't for sale and I believe it sent out a message to up the bid. I HOPE I AM WRONG. I REALLY DO.

      @wall2wall:

      I really don't see the point of adding one, much needed CB, only to sell another, much needed CB. Beevers won't be sold to anyone, imo. Shittu will go, Robbo will most likely move into the coaching area and Dunne will be good cover for CB duties with Edwards and this young lad James Brown (I feel good, nananana - sorry couldn't resist that) in the RB position. Those are my thoughts & I may well be wrong about Bevers but seriously doubt that I am.

        @Bolland:

        James Brown is years away from the first team, he is going to be trying to get into the U-18 academy team right now. (He is 16 years old and only signed a scholarship deal.)
        Josh Siafa is the third string RB right now. (Forgetting Justin Hoyte, which is very easily done.)

    Seems to me Gary Johnson saying Webster is no closer than joining the lions than he is Leeds was very wide of the mark. Would like to see us had a few wingers to this team once Webster has officially signed

    Another piece of good business by Ollie. Still think another CB and Striker needed. No real cover for Webster and Beevers and Mcdonald and Easter do not fill me with confidence. No Hoff or Moro leaves us too light up top. Jackson and Dj proved not to be the answer. COYL

    Yes, welcome and good luck at MFC ( if you join ) Byron W. ( Spider ). We think that Captain D. Shittu is on his last season, so a good long term replacement, we hope.

    Beevers has been our best signing of the last few seasons, hope his Millwall days aren't numbered.
