Millwall keeper linked with QPR, Palace and Germany move

DAVID Forde was watched by scouts from QPR and Crystal Palace whilst playing for the Republic of Ireland against Italy last week, according to reports.

And in an interview with the Irish press, Forde has revealed that he has an offer on the table from a club in Germany.

The 34-year-old, whose contract at Millwall expires at the end of the month, kept a clean sheet against the Azzurri on Saturday in an international friendly at Craven Cottage.

Reports claim QPR and Palace were in the stands to see him in action.

The Lions are in talks with Forde about extending his stay at The Den but boss Ian Holloway theksm.virusinc.org/medicine/ admitted last week that he may not be able to afford to keep the goalkeeper.

Asked about his future, Forde said: "I'm in talks with Millwall, they've made me an offer so we're back and forth and there is a few others sniffing around."

Forde confirmed that he has a offers from overseas – believed to be a Bundesliga club – and added that he would "have no problem moving" abroad.

"It's still in the mix," he said. "I've got to weigh up the best options for me and my family. At the end of the day, that's all that counts."

Two Prem teams and a German team? That's gonna take a WHOLE lot of Ollie love to make him stay

bored of this now.. Set the fella a deadline and if he doesn't sign, let him go and get someone else! Don't let him be bigger than the club.

Would be very happy with Gilks as a replacement.

Maybe Germany is a good lure for him but can't see the point in QPR or palace only be second choice and spend most of his time benchwarming

He'd have to spend all his time learning German or worst still, learning to tolerate the ultras at palace. Speichern Sie all die Zeit und betonen David und unterzeichnen einen neuen Vertrag jetzt! Palace, Palace Palace sind? PP,WTFAP...as the song goes.

Would like to know what german club have offered him a deal??? Hamburger SV???

Im a bit disappointed he has not stated he would love to stay at Millwall.... Then maybe Ollie might feel his loyalty deserves a better deal....

Palace & QPR he will not be first choice.... Give him until friday if not the deals off.... If no one signs him he will shoot himself in the foot....

Boring me now, lets go get a new keeper and tear up contract offer.

He's not the keeper he was a few years ago and to be honest for me he's robbed the player of the years award this year! If he hasn't signed already he clearly doesn't want to stay - thanks Fordey but sign up now or jog on

Can't see why Forde would want to move to QPR or Crystal Palace, where over the course of the season it's likely he would only get a handful of games at best. A move to Germany, however is a totally different ball game and maybe more appealing to him and his family. Whatever happens Forde has done well for Millwall in his time with us, but a decision needs to be made sooner rather than later.

@harry2310: The reason is money. He is 34 years old and this is his last chance (maybe) to secure a good deal for himself, and who can blame him. He has to look after himself and his family.

Thanks for the memories and good luck for your future

Good keeper not great, been pretty loyal to us, in all honesty at this stage of his career if he gets an offer of a couple of seasons in the PL or a foreign equivalent (even if its as a backup keeper) with what I would imagine would be possibly double/triple/quadruple wages that we can offer then he is more than entitled to take it.

Being 34 I understand if he is holding out for perhaps 3 years of higher salary at another club to help provide for his family's future; the clock on his career is ticking. Had he been 6 years younger he'd have been long gone. Family first and good luck to him.

@steveomfc5: I don't see how "sign off f*** off" is the way to treat a player who has served his time with us in good and bad times tbh? I have no problem with seeing players we have brought on progress and do well at a higher level... Sheringham, Thatcher, Neill, Cahill, Reid Kasey Keller etc etc. The old stay with us at all costs or f*** off is all very Scum Ham for me. Sorry if that is uncool but that's how I feel. People who leave and s*** us off like Keogh or DNG are fair game.

@JonnyBanks: just frustrated with the way it's being dragged out! no doubt he's done us a great service, but i think the player of the year award and celtic knocking has gone to his head. if wages is the issue then just go. if it's not then get in that office and sign on the dotted................ coz this could be holding up other signings as money as we all know is a tough point, especially seeing as we wasted loads on the lomas era 🙁

@Jim28: gilks can do what forde does now! i don't think forde is as good as he was 3 seasons ago tbh. he is a lot slower to ground and some of his decision making hasn't been the best. despite winning player of the year, which woolford or malone should of won anyway.

Enough is enough Fordey, we supporters were loyal to you when things weren't going too well for you and now it's your turn. We've helped you turn yourself into one of the best keepers in the division so sign up or sign off but don't go thinking you can hold the club to ransom.

I think it would be great if Fordey gets a chance to sign with a premiership team , he deserves his shot he has been a loyal team player, I would like to see us go after the young guy from Blackpool and Cesar can come back to Toronto where the fans love him ,of course none if this will happen unless he signes with QPR just musing

Don't understand the mentality of supporters who begrudge our loyal servants and better players a potential move even when they are just LINKED to other clubs in a higher league. If all of our players were linked to Premiership clubs we wouldn't be scrapping against relegation every year.
Best of luck to Fordey, whether he stays or goes.

As much as I'd love him to stay, I don't think he will. Everything just says he's going.
    1) I saw on several websites that Forde said we wants to stay, but if so, why hasn't he signed the contract? I think he knew he could do better than us and was waiting for a bigger club to look at him.
    2) 'I want what's best for my family'. Surely that's no hassle of relocating, and earning more money? Both of which, he will achieve by moving to qpr or palace.
    3) He doesn't say anything about staying put in this article.

Sad to say it but I think we have to say goodbye...

People saying we didn't moan about Cahill, Keller, Sheringham and co moving on??

To be fair I was gutted... But let's have it right they were special players and Forde is not.

He's a good keeper yes but if he was that good someone would of made and offer when he was under contract.... If he will get more money signing for Palace on a free to be a bench warmer and fade out into retirement that's his choice and I do understand....

If he believes in Holloway and the club he would stay hoping for glory next year in the prem... He clearly doesn't...
In the Scottish accent of Duncan Bannantine.... David I'm Out

I like Forde, he isn't brilliant and he isn't bad, I do feel a bit vulnerable when the ball is rolling slowly towards him and a fast striker is running at the same ball and he waits, and waits, and waits, and waits before shifting it.
Lets be honest he is Ireland's number 1 because competition is scarce
    David Forde (age 34) Millwall
Joe Murphy (age 32) Coventry City
Rob Elliot (age 28) Newcastle United
Ian Lawlor (age 19) Man City
But being a countries number 1 should give you certain entitlements I think, and his pay packet should reflect that, if MFC won't give him a fair wage as a recognised international player then he should leave. If he would like to stay but on £x , MFC should respect that and give him £x if they can afford it and it isn't a ludicrous demand. If he has asked for something unrealistic then part ways, but echoing others sort it sooner than later so we can get a new keeper from the beginning of pre season.

I admit Forde was a great keeper for us over the years but he looked dodgy 2nd half of last season, if you watch back the goals we conceded 90% Forde didn't budge a f****** inch for!

He's not bigger than the club - if he wants big money he won't get it here so may as well f*** off.

need to go on the hunt for a replacement - even if Forde does decide to stay we need to get rid of that prat Bywater!
