Released Millwall winger Feeney follows Trotter to Bolton

LIAM Feeney has agreed a two-year contract with Bolton and will join fellow ex-Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter at the Reebok Stadium this summer.

Feeney, who finished last campaign on loan with Blackburn Rovers, was one of four players released by the Lions xanaxlowprice.com earlier this month.

Blackburn were reportedly eager to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis but he has decided to link up with Dougie Freedman's side instead.

The winger spent a brief spell on loan at the Greater Manchester club last October.

Considerng his potential, which is presumably what Bolton see too, Feeney was a major disappointment. Very rarely able to show his class for us except in patches. Hopefully he will do better at Bolton as he seemed a nice lad

@junkmale: he was the scourge of fullbacks in our division, I can't count the number of times his crosses hit them.

Bolton could be a good bet to struggle next year. Do you think they might take Hoyte as well?

Back in October we were playing hard ball with Bolton over a fee because we 'won't let Liam go for nothing'. That worked out well then.

@lion.ie: I thought we did get a fee for Liam Trotter. It was Liam Feeney who Steve Lomas played "hard ball with" and obviously cost us a transfer fee even if we had only got back what we paid fro him.

If Freedman can get these two to play at a high level consistently I'll rake my hat off to him, but I very much doubt it. Trotts had all the talent with poor applications Feeney is just a second rate speed merchant.

Liam Trotter was a big loss at the time and imo very underrated, but very good news Carlos has signed as he still has a lot to offer, some players I think give up too early, Stanley Matthews went on to play until he was 50 at top flight. Ok so the game might be more demanding now and of course there are more games per season, but not that many more. Players now seem more molly coddled, scream in agony at the slightest tackle, spend a lot of time on the treatment table, the refs blow up for the slightest tackle and make a meal ou of showing cards. I have seen Harry Cripps go up in the air after a bruising challenge and get up without the slightest complaint and get on with the game.
Millwall needs a combination of youth and experience I hope IH will take us forward.

Just seen that we're close to signing Aaron Wilbraham from Crystal Palace on a 2 year deal, 34 years old, thoughts?

@HenryBaird_: So much for a youth policy....and our overseas scouting network, we have only have to to look 7 miles down the road.

Carlos Edwards is testament that a older signings can work, but Edwards ha been quality throughout his career with Wilbrahams being ridiculously average. Along with Easter & McDonald also in their thirties, its not the signing I thought we would see to be honest.

@Peckhamlad: @Windy: Just seen on Twitter that Wilbraham hasn't been discussed that much according to Ambler, so hopefully there's no proof in the pudding. Personally I'd rather go with a younger, hungry striker, even O'brien or Marquis, will be more exciting than having a cast off.

      @HenryBaird_:
From what I've read he is the hold up man so hopefully he has a younger partner in mind, if he's just standing around holding up, bringing the midfielders and other strikers into the game he wont do much running.

@br00ker: He has never set the world alight, and was only a stand in striker at Palace, so what's the point in taking a cast off? I thought IH was going after youth and pace? Not complaining about the guys age but rather Jackson than Wilbrahams.

Personally, I don't have any bad feeling towards Feeney. Never really worked out for him and I think a move is best for both parties.
The one game I did see him play in when he was at Bolton earlier this year, he played really well and got man of the match. We should of cut our losses then and sold him for a fee, but I suppose hindsight's a wonderful thing.
I think both Feeney (and James Henry) are good league 1 players and will struggle next season in the Championship.
