Millwall can't rely on other results to survive, says Edwards

CARLOS Edwards says Millwall will not have to worry about other teams' results if they win their final two games of the season – starting against QPR tomorrow.

The Lions could be guaranteed of Championship football for another year come Saturday evening – but only if they claim three points at Loftus Road and Blackpool lose at Wigan.

Edwards, though, insists Millwall will not be worrying about scores elsewhere.

"We can't be expecting other teams to do us favours – we need to do ourselves a favour by doing our job, which is getting the three points that we need," he said.

"We're not going to be crossing our fingers that Wigan do a job for us because it doesn't work that way. We need to look after ourselves first and see how it goes from there.

"One more win should do it, but obviously we want to finish the season montauk-monster.com/pharmacy/provigil unbeaten – so we want two wins."

Edwards, who has spent the majority of his career playing as a winger, has been a revelation at right back since his move to the Lions.

But the 35-year-old has always felt comfortable playing in defence.

"Under Paul Jewell at Ipswich I played as a right back for a year and a half and the manager here knew that," Edwards explained.

"That wasn't the plan, for me to play in defence, but the manager sees his full backs as an attacking threat and I can fit into that position.

"I've chipped in with the winner against Wigan, so that was a plus!

"I'm playing out of position but I've played at right back before so it's nothing new to me. I think I've brought something to the team that was lacking before – a bit of experience."
