BOURNEMOUTH wing back Scott Malone has officially joined Millwall on a three-year contract, with striker Josh McQuoid moving the other way as a makeweight.

Malone, 21, and McQuoid, 22, today flew home from Spain, where they had been on holiday together with a number of other Cherries players, to rubber-stamp the swap deal.

The Lions have also paid the League One side an undisclosed fee, with the total value of the deal thought to be worth £750,000.

Malone's arrival in SE16 brings to an end weeks of lengthy and complex discussions between the two clubs – talks which NewsAtDen exclusively revealed were taking place, in spite of a vehement denial by Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell.

Malone, who can operate both in defence and on the wing, only recently left Wolves, where he came through the youth ranks, in a £150,000-switch.

But he had been heavily scouted by both chief scout Jamie Johnson and boss Kenny Jackett in the second half of last season and it is understood he was the club's top summer target.

The former England U19 international agreed personal terms and passed a medical last week during a meeting with Jackett at a hotel near Gatwick Airport.

McQuoid, meanwhile, has signed a three-year deal with his former club and returns to the south coast having scored just one goal in 12 appearances since his £550,000 move to The Den in January 2011.
