BOURNEMOUTH chairman Eddie Mitchell had admitted that a swap deal involving Cherries wing back Scott Malone and Millwall striker Josh McQuoid is in the offing.
Mitchell initially denied that there had been any talks with the Lions when NewsAtDen revealed Malone was to hold talks with boss Kenny Jackett and undergo a medical ahead of a switch to The Den.
But he has since conceded that negotiations are ongoing behind the scenes and revealed that Bournemouth boss Paul Groves had personally requested the deal go through.
It is understood the move could be officially confirmed within the next 48 hours.
"The players and the clubs have been talking," he told the Daily Echo. "It is not a secret and there is a possibility it might be done but I can't say one way or another how far down the line we are.
"Paul asked the board if we would consider doing a swap between the two of them if the figures were right and we said we would.
"At this moment in time, I know they are working towards doing a deal but can't say how far they have got. It would have to work for the club for it to go through and it would have to be good business for the club."
