Blackburn target Forde as Easter nears Millwall extension

DAVID Forde is a target for Blackburn Rovers.

The long-serving Millwall goalkeeper, whose contract expires in the summer, turned down the offer of a new Lions deal before Christmas.

Forde has been linked with the likes of Celtic, Swansea and Crystal Palace in recent months, but Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is ready to make him an offer.

Speaking last month, chairman John Berylson said of the Republic of Ireland international: "I love David to death.

"He has become a Millwall fixture and I would love to see it work out, but if somebody else makes him a huge offer there's not much I can do about that."

Jermaine Easter is close to agreeing a 12-month extension to his deal but chief executive Andy Ambler has said that all contract negotiations are on hold for the time being.

Ambler added: "There will be no talks until we know which division we are going to be in."

Forde has been pretty terrible recently so I doubt Celtic or Swansea are interested.
Easter will be a good player in league 1 if he's up for it.

@benzo: Giving Easter an extension doesn't inspire me with any confidence - he's hardly been prolific and I don't understand why people think it will be so much easier in League One. Just another journeyman who'll flit in and out of the team at best.

@benzo: I reckon this is his agent throwing names around hoping to panic us into giving him a new deal , let him go , at his age he's not gonna get any better and the last 2 seasons he's let in too many soft long range shots that just trundle past him .

Keep Easter, if David could regain his once brilliant form we may have not lost some important games but he has not had a good season so if he chooses to go then the money would be helpful.

If Forde really wanted to help this club he would of signed a minimal contract, then moved on. This would have given a little money to the club.

I think we all know his best days are well behind him aye! i say get rid of that c*** bywater while we're there and get 2 decent keepers in. on the other hand i would like to thank forde for his loyal service to the club, no doubt he's been brilliant for us, but i think the last 2 seasons he has been very questionable.

I'm happy for Forde to go based on this seasons performances! Not up to the mark at all yet more clubs are interested in signing him.... Really???

Forde has been immense for us over the years but it's time to bring in a couple of new keepers which we can most probably afford with the wages Fordey is on!

I thank you Forde for the service you have given our club through good times and bad, but now is a great time for you to move on and good luck for your Ireland International career!

I have to agree with you, JB knows what's best for the club as a football team and a business... I think if we had signed up all the players on longer contracts who some of the fans wanted (without knowing what Div we would be in) it could of crippled us in League 1.

That Martin is a good keeper, but I think our scouting department needs an overhaul with a lot of good youngsters around the London area!

@Bradders: To be fair Forde has had some very good games and literally kept us in it single handed. Some of the goals he has let in lately have looked a bit lame with bad positioning but playing behind our totally crap central defence he is probably trying to cover their areas as well. Having a defence you can rely on makes life so much easier for a keeper.
As we all know that is not what we have.

@Dazi: Yes Easter would probably do well in div 1 and also Jimmy would be a good utility player, but that league is notorious for upset, lousy grounds, rotten officials and crap football. It will be very hard work and barring a miracle cannot see us coming straight back up.

They should be Totally Ashamed of themselves, after the Brilliant Support we the Millwall fans have followed them everywhere.

I know that Gary Bowyer said he liked Millwall, but I wonder did he watch the match last Saturday, because if he really is after Forde then why dont we do a swap for Robinson, because I know who looked the safer keeper last week.

Forde has been giving below par performances for a couple of months now, as have others so Ollie if he is staying has a chance to get the team he wants with in the meager amount of money that will be at his disposal in Division one next season, lets see what you are made of as we cant blame KJ or Lomas next term. Get players in a on a decent wage but with a good bonus system so they get more for the teams success, rather than just coming here for the big money desperate clubs pay when the want to avoid the drop.

We have some cracking youngsters who can do a job in League 1, Jake Goodman, Jack Powell, Fred, Niall McManus, Kieron Heaton, Sid Nelson.... exciting times!

Although Marquis and O'Brien really haven't stepped up as much as they should have.

Forde may be having a bad run of form, but he's still possibly our best and most consistent player, some of his saves this season have been top class, and he wasn't that bad on Saturday, they definitely could've got 3 or 4 if it wasn't for him...

@timchimes: More or less agree with that list. Maybe keep Dunney he can do a job in L1. It might be hard to off load some of them as they're still under contract, Hoyte for instance. However it is time for Ollie to be given the chance to build his own squad.

I would only keep Lowry out of that lot because the way he plays could make him a long term Den legend!! Shittu will stay and be captain... while League 1 strikers will s*** themselves at the sight of him!

no, no, no, no, no, no, not Dunne, please - move forwards, not backwards ( i said no sentiment Harry- but do i detect a little Dunne love going on - If you wish we could arrange for him to sell the programmes so you wouldn't miss him too much)
But seriouly which other team could you imagine wanting Dunne - not just him most of the ones listed above - that is the point we don't have a pool of players that other teams want - Which of our current squad will a Champonship team come in for when we are relegated? If we want to get promoted we need Championship players, not League One players because otherwise that is where we will stay - doing a job is not enough -

We need that young quick lad from Luton.... Andre Gray (27 goals so far this season, 20 goals last season) worth a punt at around £200,000 and he is only 22!!

We might of got him fot that amount when Kenny was looking at him around the time of our cup meet but I believe from one of my work colleagues who follows Luton home and away that he will not be sold for less than a million. I can see why.
We have missed the boat just like we did with Le Fondre.

I agree, a 20 plus a season striker is essential to coming up again. We just have to find one.

I would give Dunne a lift anywhere he wanted to go, as long as wasn't Old Kent Road, too close to the ground, and the rest, I say good luck in finding a club.

If I was an opposition manager I would love seeing Forde in goal. 'Just lob in crosses or fire from a distance and you will score' would be my advice. He has been p*** poor again this season. Last season he started letting in goals scored outside the box and that has continued this season. He has now added flapping at crosses or thow-ins to his repertoire. No loss at all if he goes and a good sum in wages saved too. My view on the in/out question is:

Out: Robinson, Dunne, Bailey, Chaplow, Martin, Marquis, Smith, Wright, Hoyte, McDonald
Not retained (i.e. loan or short-term contracts): Morison, Campbell, Bessone, Garvan, Carlos Edwards, Jackson
Retained: Lowry, Beevers, Malone, Easter, Shittu, Upson, Williams, Bywater, Abdou, Fred

... so plenty of scope there for IH to rebuild. To be fair to him, his permanent signings (Upson and Williams) have been quality so I have faith he will make further good signings from lower down the leagues in the summer. Loan signings are always a bit hit and miss.
I would out all the 'old pros' because I think they have been one of the reasons we haven't progressed recently.
I don't expect Spurs will let us have Fredericks but its worth a bash and the Hof may not fancy league one either but you never know.
    Sign Up: Fredericks, Maierhofer

We always knew Forde would be off at the end of the season. Reserving my judgement on Easter til I see who stays. Personally would like to keep the Hoff if he doesn't want too much money. He looks good to me. The way he held on to the ball so he could time his pass perfectly to put Jackson through against Blackburn makes me think he could become a decent asset once fit.

Came out and flapped at the corner for there 1st goal as usual
So what does he bring to the game I say F*** off how your international level begs the question inconsistent nearer the mark we don't need players like you at Wall
You should get us out of the s*** and show your worth instead your looking for a way out.

@southstand: David was up in the VIP area afterwards, he met up with friends from Ireland, a keeper is only as good as the players in front of him. De Gea at Man United like Forde, is having a decent season, its the efforts in pretecting him which is the problem. The full backs on Saturday, consistently gave the ball away, were jittery in there general play. Scott Mc Donald in the middle of the park, seriously he couldn't get around the pitch. As for the efforts of Steve Morrison on Saturday, lazy, bad touch, frustrating to watch. Carlos Edwards did ok but was he as good as what ye had ie James Henry-Bad mistake letting him go.

Jermaine Easter could be very useful in League One. His experience alongside the youngsters we'll obviously be playing will be valuable.
Also , think of Kevin Lisbie at Orient. What a season he's had , he must be 33 - 34 proving it is possible to get the best from an aging , average striker.

He's on big money and as we will probably be in league 1 I say let him go and get someone else in preferably early to mid 20s.

I actually quite like him but he has made a fair few mistakes and I'm sure we could find someone else on half the wages making the same kind of errors.

Don't want to see Bywater in goal as a replacement! Whoever wants Forde gets him as an add on.

          @mfc1rob: Yeah, WHY IS THAT?!?!
They should've done one of their polls on there as well - 'DJ Campbell - Guilty or Not Guilty??!'
Could this be the juicy cherry on top of this wonderful season.....?

@Luke ColdBlow10: sub judice I suppose. Still, he's not a Millwall player either in heart or contract. He is just another journeyman given a temporary home and living by IH. Innocent until proved otherwise.

@mfc1rob: Alex can you shed any light on the reason for the comments being blocked on the Campbell article? Can't be due to legal reasons surely?

Does this meaner can distance ourselves from him and stop lobbing out 16k on his wages??

Aldo mate, peoples opinions towards ongoing cases must be ok??? The Oscar Pistorius case is being pimped on TV for all to have an opinion of, how can fans opinions on the article effect anything? Obviously I am not schooled in such matters, its a genuine wonderment.

@JonnyBanks: Most comments would be fine. But when someone has been arrested/is in court, it's best to disable comments as libel and contempt issues come into play.

@>Alex Aldridge when someone is arrested the only time u are libel is when somebody posts evidence or a witness is named. Surely giving your opinion wouldn't qualify as libel

One year they let Henderson go because of his trial, the next they give a "second chance" to a match-fixer even with the possibility that he was going to be re-arrested some time in early April.
Some geniuses working for the Millwall board.

@Luke ColdBlow10: Luke, that's fantastic! What a pickup! If he paces himself should be able to Eak out a living till he,s 45. Sounds like a model citizen and will be great for mentoring the young guys as they come through the system. Couldn't believe he,d still be available!

I H signed this boy DJ on the basis he trusted him, perhaps his perforfamces have shown he has things on his mind, and his trust was misplaced. Time will tell, fact is he should have scored 10 goals for us in the games played. Lets look forward to next season when IH will produce his own squad, with our youngsters forming the basis of our squad. Come on you buggers get behind our LIONS!!!

And also, is it true that the club will employ bikini clad women to act as tray girls in the catering dept to supply foods throughout the crowd on match days? Maybe even some to introduce the 1st and 2nd halves like they do at the boxing! Would've thought it'd be a bit cold but s***, why not!!!

I would have thought most of the team would have been arrested by now pretending to be football players surely that's a criminal offence with how they played this season

    He has been re arrested.
He has not been found guilty in a court of law.
    Massive difference.
I would of thought as Millwall fans we would know all about people jumping to conclusions before hearing all the evidence.
How about we dont condemn him all the while the case hasn't been proven.
    Just a suggestion.

Campbell has bot done badly for us since signing, so no hard feelings from me. The truth will come out eventually and I hope for his sake that his innocence is proven.

just watched the 1st blackburn goal again forde missed that cross by a long way,so where i think he is a great shot stopper his command of his box is not very good which keeps the pressure on defenders, also he gets beaten by soft long shots,so IMO if he goes then it will be no bad thing.
Like trotter i think he was always going to go anyway one last decent pay packet is in his interest at his age.
I cant believe blackburn or celtic are interested in him as a first team goalkeeper,i dont know any thing about the celtic goalkeepers, but no way is in front of the blackburn keeper.
