Preview: Millwall vs. Charlton

STEVE Morison and Scott Malone are touch and go to face Charlton on Saturday.

Morison was forced off with a neck injury against Blackpool in midweek and will be assessed before kick off at The Den.

Scott Malone (hip) also faces a late fitness test, but injured quartet Danny Shittu (Achilles), Jermaine Easter (thigh), Nicky Bailey (back) and DJ Campbell (hamstring) remain sidelined.

New signing Stefan Maierhofer has received international clearance in time to feature and joins John Marquis is being added to the Millwall squad.

Charlton will be without long-term absentees Chris Solly and Leon Cort.

@BUSHWACKER14: Hope your right mate as it would be the first time we have scored 3 goals in a game since the middle of last September, and with our form against the teams around us I do not have your confidence regarding that scoreline.

But a win is the minimum we need a big score will slightly help our goal difference, which could be very important come May the 3rd . COYL!!!!!

Five days ago I was confident of beating this sorry lot. I'm still doing my best to stay positive, but the Blackpool result, return of Marquis and unveiling of giraffe-man has brought me crashing down to earth. My heart says a stomping 3-0 win, but my head says 0-0 at best.

Be realistic, what type of player is going to want to come to MFC, staring at relegation & getting slagged off before even getting a run-out for a few weeks ? If he IS the clown that some seem to have already deemed him, then at least he won't look out of place . The league table says it all ! With NO MONEY left & s*** gates the club will take whoever it can, and be grateful. Despite what some seem to think this business is not played out on a bedroom laptop ! For f*** sake, one month ago Ollie was the messiah, now he is clueless ? Surprised it hasn't been pointed out that he is a palace cast-off, or is that the next childish whine ? Get behind whoever has the club at heart or f*** off !
And you can tell your mum I said so !

@frank: Agree with you Frank, I think everybody vents their frustration at the situation we're in on this site- which is fair enough- but the matter of whose to blame sometimes gets a bit blurred!
We've had so much s*** luck this season- s**t ref decisions- injuries- suspensions etc. that it's kind of miraculous that we ain't rock bottom of the league. Also, I still think that without IH coming in- we would've been in an even worse spot.
OK, 'you make your own luck' as the saying goes- but if we're honest with ourselves- we all know that IH has had things go unjustly against him....
      Look at the situation now-
      DJ - OUT
      Easter - OUT
      McDonald - F**k knows?? (any comments/ideas??)
      Jackson - Too small/weak
Morro - ?? really hope he's in the team....
Plus, Shittu and Bailey OUT, who are also very important players....
It is an absolutely crazy position to be in. I reckon Mr. Mourinho would have trouble here!
Anyway..... still very much looking forward to tomorrow- gona make as much noise as possible, as I'm sure everyone else on here will be! COYL! MIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

1 year, 2 managers and loads of JB's money later, we still might be looking for Marquis and a big lump on loan to score the goals to get us out of the claats. But don't worry lads, I'm keeping positive!

I don't no y u lot r giving jackson a hard time, I think his a good little striker and give him time and he will be banging the goals for us. Yhh this new 6foot8 striker ain't the best but this now means jackson can play off him unlike Morison who thinks his f****** Ronaldo and never holds up the ball. Millwall to win 2-0 jackson and upson score sheet

0-2 to Charlton. In this event, please accept we are down and give young players a chance who will have 2nd tier experience in the 3rd tier. Alternatively get loan players who give nothing to the future of the club (quite the opposite).

You lot underestimate how important Morison is. He is the only outfield player showing any real class at the minute. His hold up play, flick ons are so important and he is very intelligent when it comes to making a decision. That's probably why he isn't getting as many goals as he should - because he's the one creating everything out on the wing.

@Alan.F: got to agree...morison has been our best forward this term.. Perhaps the reason for a lot of the abuse is cos he wasn't hitting the back of the net as much as we would of like..i think he's a better all round striker now he's back & who's to say he wont stay.cos he's made it public he doesn't want to go back to leeds

And Millwall's spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,

That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With Millwall men, groaning for 3 points.

This might be a bit controversial but I think Marquis for tomorrows game might be just what we need. He'll be so up for it and he bleeds blue that I think he's perfect to play against the anoraks. Let's be fair no one else is scoring so at worst he'll be equally as bad as the rest. Nothing to lose really. If he starts I think he'll score or at least make a big contribution to the game.

    Heyho,

honestly it's quite embarrassing what i had to read here about Maierhofer. He didn't even play a single minute for your club so far....

There are terrible videos about him on youtube, but believe me: I could make such a video of EVERY player in this world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxCALa58HcA (This is also a game where he was involved, scored two goals. Salzburg isn't that bad, right? At least still the EL at the moment...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiLSnNeBUFQ (He also participated in this game.... i guess he wasn't selected because he's really, really bad....)

He was a hero for Duisburg-Fans (Germans 2nd Bundesliga) when they reached the Cup-Finals WITH him. He was a hero for Rapid Vienna-Fans when he scored 23 goals in 08/09.

You will never see this guy giving less than 100%, he will try to eat every opponent alive if he's getting a chance. He's not a big talent, but his effort brought him to Bayern Munich, to the Premier League, into the Austrian national team etc....

BTW: He signed his first contract at a prof. club at the age of 23, before that he had to help his parents with their restaurant. Just because of his unbelievable will he made it this far. And that's sensational for somebody like him.

It's quite unfair what you're doing here..... sorry.

Greetings from Austria and sorry for my bad english.
    FO

@FCTO: Hi FCTO,welcome to the site, its always good to hear from other fans. The reason many of us are criticising Maierhofer before he has played for us is that we have had a terrible season with many players coming and going, we have signed many over 30year old journey men who have not produced or rarely play because they are unfit, we call them wage thieves because they take the money without giving anything to the team.
What we were hoping for was someone who was match fit and could find the goal and we are totally inept in that department. We were not expecting a 31 year old who has not played all season and why has he not played ? If he was any good someone would have wanted him or is it that he has had a bad injury ? neither of which is very encouraging.
We all hope he can do a job for us and I am sure we all wish him well but I can not see how a 31 year old with no match practice all season can hope to compete in the 2nd tier of English football.
As I say we have had so many turn up here unfit and they have all been totally useless.
