Robinson: Charlton derby is "great opportunity" for Millwall

PAUL Robinson is relishing Saturday's south London derby against Charlton.

Millwall can move six points clear of their local rivals, who are rooted to the bottom of the Championship, with a win – but defeat would leave the Lions in the relegation zone.

With so much at stake, Robinson says he cannot wait for kick off to come around.

"It is a massive game but it is even bigger now because we are both fighting for points at the wrong end of the table," he said.

"It is a great opportunity for us to put some distance between us and them in the table. It'll be a fantastic atmosphere and I'm really looking forward to it."

The Lions have enjoyed plenty of success against the Addicks down the years, recording 33 wins to Charlton's 11, but Robinson insists history counts for nothing.

"They'll be looking at the other angle and thinking that they're due a win," he said.

"We have to make sure we're at it and take full advantage of playing at The Den.

"We want the atmosphere to be red-hot and we as players have to maximise that and bring the fans into play.

"We want it to be a difficult afternoon for Charlton. It's a game that gets the pulses racing."

    Must win game.
I personally think that we will beat them and wait for it drum roll score more than 2 goals.
At least we know that you will be there to fire them up Robbo.
Time to smash Charlton and give ourselves a better chance of staying up.
    Roll on kick off.
    I cant wait.

@jim1222: The good news is that it's Charlton, we should have our biggest gate of the season. Other good news is that Stefan Maierhofer is currently cleaning all the floodlights with out using a ladder so we'll all have a great view if it turns cloudy.

@jim1222: Jim I can honestly say that I never want Ian Hollaway to be the Millwall manager, and as you can see I am not moaning or downbeat, I also looking forward to getting behind him at the dole office.

at last, robbo finally said his usual rousing speach. was getting worried for a minute. just waiting for choppers speach then i'll be a happy man. cracks me up, they give the verbal large, about time they took it to the pitch. cant wait for tomorrow, a full house of the mighty lions giving a deafening roar, making up for the dodgy ref we are no doubt gonna get. bring it on, we fear no foe Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
