Shittu to have scan as spate of injuries hits Millwall squad

DANNY Shittu will have a scan today on the injury he sustained in Millwall's 1-0 win over Derby at the weekend.

Shittu limped off midway through the second half and Lions boss Ian Holloway fears the defender could now miss the next three weeks.

DJ Campbell will also have a scan to determine the extent of a hamstring strain, while Scott Malone and Shane Lowry are doubtful for the trip to Blackpool on Tuesday.

Holloway said: "Injuries are an occupational hazard for everybody.

"We have got a problem with Malone – I don't think he is going to make it make it. Danny definitely won't play and he's probably out for the rest of March.

"He is having a scan today and his injury looks the most serious from Saturday. He might have torn something just above his Achilles.

"DJ is having a scan on his hamstring later and he might be out for two to three weeks, but Danny's looks worse than that.

"Shane's got a really sore foot and I'm not sure whether he'll be fit. We've got a few walking wounded."

Holloway also revealed that Jermaine Easter's thigh strain, which ruled him out of the the Rams game, could keep him out until April.

Really unfortunate, but time for the whole squad to stand up. Losing is not an option. Men of millwall, "you're time has come"

This is typical, finally win a game and we're struck down with injuries. But no good moaning about it just got to get on with it.

A blow but not the end of the world. We've got enough defensive options to put out a team capable of getting a result at Blackpool.
    I hope.

I think he'll put Dunne with Robbo. Argie will play IMO. The other full back ...who knows?

The back 4 could be either Dunne, Robbo, Beevers and Argie or Fredericks, Robbo,Dunne, and Argie. Depends on who Blackpool have playing up front because the problem with playing Dunne at Centre back is his height. Losing Shittu,Lowry and Malone at the same time is a real blow. The other alternative is to play Williams at Centre Back alongside Robbo. At lest that would be a right/left footed combination with a bit of height.

@denslions: if Williams goes into the back four we lose quality in midfield - just don't think we can do that - we need the midfield to stat to gel - don't mess around with it - running out of options upfront - Jackson playing with Morison now or woolford and martin as wide men in a 5 man midfield??? what s the bigger risk Beevers not match fit or the Argentinian , not match fit

A blow we could do without, the players are extending themselves so much that injuries such as these are now happening. It could not come at a worse time of the season, with so much pressure now everyone needs to step up the pace. Can't we get Tim Cahill on loan? 🙂

And those northern nob heads had the cheek to accuse our players of faking injuries!

What a gutter, some really key players out. Will we ever get to play an unchanged team??? 🙁

At the game on Saturday, again we were let down by poor officials, the ref was influenced by the crowd, who were jeering Fordey every time he got the ball. Some of the Derby tackles that were going in, were ignored. 95% of the injuries were genuine. I thought Robbo was awesome when he came on for Shittu, just got stuck in and played his heart out. So if Lowry and Malone are also missing tomorrow, it looks as if Mr Argie will be playing, worry as he lasted 5 minutes in his first game before he got booked. I really do not think the mid field should be used to cover defence as it is begining to gel.

I think that we will miss Malone most out of all of them because of what he gives us going forward rather than his defending. He is a key player for me.

@wall2wall: key going forward but often key to us conceding playing the Argie might make us tighter at the back. Time to step it up lads.
