KENNY Jackett has called on his players to maintain their recent good form with a win against high-flying Southampton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Lions play host to the Championship leaders looking to make it three wins in a row, following victories over Dagenham & Redbridge and Barnsley last week.

And Jackett is keen to ensure his side progress to the fifth round with another triumph – as well as using the game as an opportunity to boost morale within the squad.

"It's a home game, a very good opportunity for us to progress and one we want to take," he told the club's official website.

"The cup can be good for us for many reasons – a cup run can lift the whole club for the second half of the season and we have had a good couple of games to base it on, so the players should be going into it with a lot of confidence.

"Confidence is hard-earned, its not something that comes easily and you have to work at it and earn it and when you get some, you have to work hard to keep it.

"Sometimes confidence can be very elusive in football and people and players have to realise that you earn your confidence and you have to graft for it and you have to stick in there sometimes and persevere.

"We have got to make sure that we build on the last two games. there has been good performances, good passing performances and we have created chances and most importantly, we have finished those chances

"We go into a really big run of games now – Southampton in the cup followed by Watford and West Ham. It's the sort of games you want to be involved in and it's the bigger the better for me. It's a fantastic challenge."
