Morison eyes unbeaten run after Millwall's shock Derby win

STEVE Morison hopes his winner at Derby will provide the catalyst Millwall need to pull away from the foot of the Championship table.

Morison headed the only goal of the game in Saturday's match at the iPro Stadium to boost the Lions' survival hopes with a priceless three points.

And the striker immediately turned his attention to a crunch week in Millwall's season, with back-to-back games coming up against fellow strugglers Blackpool and Charlton.

"They're huge games," he said. "We need to go on a four or five-game unbeaten run to shoot us up the table.

"Beating Derby was a definite coupon buster, wasn't it? It was a great win and we needed the three points because everyone else around us won.

"People like to write Millwall off but we're no worse than the other teams at the bottom.

"If we keep playing like we did on Saturday we will show that we are better than a few teams in this league.

"We've been unlucky in recent weeks as we've been playing like that but not getting results.

"That was testament to our hard work and the manager. He has been working hard for us and we’ve been working hard for him.

"That win is for the fans who came to support us and hopefully we will see a few of them up at Blackpool on Tuesday."

Morison believes Millwall are well-equipped to survive with Ian Holloway at the helm and says performances have been improving from week to week.

He added: "The way the manager works and treats us is why we have been doing okay, and why we haven't been too worried about results.

"He's happy, we're happy and we are enjoying working for him.

"We've got a good, happy squad and a manager who believes in us, and a manager who we believe in. If we keep putting performances in like we did on Saturday, results will turn."

Asked how many points the Lions will need to stay up, Morison said: "I think it will go to the wire for everyone.

"I don't think it will be a 56-pointer like last season, it will be around the 40-odd point mark like it normally is.

"Barnsley and Doncaster also won at the weekend which drags Birmingham and Blackpool in to it. Charlton are bottom but they've got a lot of games in hand.

"But we've not been talking about the other teams, we have been concentrating on our own performances and how we're playing.

"We have been playing okay and not getting the results. All we did against Derby was exactly what we've been doing in recent games.

"If you don't watch us every week you would not know that, but this week we have put the chance away and we were pretty comfortable."

You know morro that you boys hav the backing of the most wonderful loving caring compassionate supporters in all of London . Now that's out of the way, let's go and rip these other teams a new a******* and start to get our way out of the dungeon. Great go against derby but it won't be worth s*** if you don't bac it up in the games to come. Good luck and let's do this together.

@grassgrower: morro has allways had backing from me i know he has not been everyone's cup of tea..one thing is for sure he been our hardest working forward...saturday we saw him in a more central role ..lets hope olly keeps him there..& just look at the bolton result..this is the same team we played 2 weeks earlier..& we made em look crap.. We just haven't been able to get that last bit of the jigsaw & that was goals..lets hope mfc have sorted it now

@Jim28: jim i have been saying till i was blue in the face, that we need morro playing as a proper centre forward, and other player,s playing off him.I have seen morro play a couple of good games playing more on the right ,but then we had no one with height to get on the end of his crosses,so i am with you on keeping morro more central.

I tell you something for free Morro, if your hopes come true i be the happiest man alive. I've been the most miserable ba$tard since that ginger vermin web-fingered inbred ex-vermin s*** was employed and we lost on to Yeovil on 3rd August 2013. Millwall ruined my xmas, new year and birthday. I hope this is the corner turned and we go on a run. Smash the anorak, train spotters 3 eyed mongs 5-0 and i'll confess to the mrs that i've already renewed my season ticket for next season! I dont care if she hits me haha

That will be all, have a good day all COYL

I remember when Morrison was here last he started s*** but 1 game transformed him against mk dons maybe derby is his mk dons this time round. But I also remember him against Stevenage his worst game in a wall shirt hopefully he's had all his bad games this time round and the good games and more importantly goals are abaut to flow.

The only thing missing from Morison this time around is the hunger & will to win lost causes. But it looks like he is back to his best.
