Millwall boss praises Morison's reaction to being benched

STEVE Morison responded "brilliantly" to being left out of the starting XI for Millwall's game against Brighton last weekend, according to boss Ian Holloway.

Morison was named on the bench for the visit of the Seagulls to The Den after making 16 consecutive starts for the Lions in league and cup.

The striker came on as a second-half substitute during the 1-0 defeat and Holloway says he received the desired reaction from his number nine.

The Millwall manager also revealed that Morison has been carrying a slight muscle strain in recent weeks.

He said: "It is about trying to pick a team that's going to win and a team that is fit enough to start.

"Steve has been playing with tight groin muscles and they are very sore. He has had a slight infection too, so I just made a decision.

"After his performance against Barnsley, I thought he could do with a rest. He responded brilliantly against Brighton and that's exactly what I hoped for.

"He is receiving a bit of treatment and we will nurse him through the games. Whether he is on the bench or on the pitch, Steve wants to give me 150 percent."

Club physio Bobby Bacic added: "Steve rarely misses any training but there is a tiny bit of tightness there.

"We've got a lot of games coming up, so we want him to be as fit and fresh as possible."

How are we supposed to react to this post. "I am absolutely over the moon that Morrison reacted so well!!!!!!" "Made my day!!!!" Sorry, this has to be the biggest non story ever. When next he starts a game may be he will react brilliantly and find the back of the net. Sorry sarcasm.

All of the ifrat 4 post have got it right, he was loaned to score goals and he did that last time for us down the middle, he reacted well about not being selected, does he still get paid when "not working" of course he does. He has a slight muscel strain.

All pros who play week in week out all carry little knocks and pulls but they just get on with it as its there job if selected by there manager, but this being Millwall our treatment room must look like an amry field hospital with the amount of injuries we get.

He's trying to build the players confidence. That's what good managers do.
I think Morisson could be vital to us staying up so carry on Holloway.

@wall2wall: he could have been vital but he is not, we don't want Morrison on the wing and that's where he ends up. He has the ability but has a serious attitude problem, which has been the reason for his career non achievement . He could have done so much more in the game if he hadn't spent most of them with his hands on his hips........ Sorry but I think his attitude stinks.
