Argentinian full back signs short-term deal with Millwall

FEDE Bessone has signed a deal with Millwall until the end of the season.

The Argentinian left back has been training with the Lions squad since he was released by Major League Soccer outfit Sporting Kansas City last month.

The 30-year-old began his career with Barcelona and, since moving to England, has played for Swansea City, Leeds United, Charlton, Swindon Town and Oldham Athletic.

Bessone, who featured for Millwall in an U21s fixture against Brighton yesterday, has made just six senior appearances since 2011.

cover? replacement? or could this be a shrood move to put malone in rm and bring woolford more central ? who knows , but im willing to give him a chance like anyone else . he hasn't had a lot of game time over the last few seasons im just hoping that hasn't effected him to much and he can do a good job.

Malone's positioning has always been a weakness, this might be a reminder that he has to up his defensive game as we have good cover now.

Yet another journeyman full back turns up at MFC to get fit and use our facilities I've lost count of them all, its a pity that we don't get any centre halves hanging around for a game and a contract.
What's happened to S**** I mean Hoyte is he still playing for the under 12's ?

What happens if Malone is injured? Smith, Lowry? we can't go back to those days - he may be extremely rusty but having been at Barca and Swansea when they were in the Prem perhaps he has enough potential to help us out in a tight spot - I welcome him knowing it is part of the slow revolution towards players who can play football from the back

This could be a master stroke by IH . FEDE FIRST OF ALL MUST BE FIT HE HAS BEEN TRAINING WITH US FOR A MONTH , WE AT LEAST KNOW THAT HE MAY BE A QUALITY DEFENDER WHO GAN PLAY OUT FROM THE BACK . THIS COULD MEAN MOVING MALONE TO WIDE IN MIDFIELD . IF WE TAKE THE STARTING LINE UP THAT WE PLAYED ON SATURDAY AND EITHER BEEVERS OR LOWERY IS FIT AND DUNNEY GOES TO THE BENCH AND MARTIN IS REPLACED BY MALONE WHO CAN DELIVER CROSSES AS WELL AS FREDRICKS MAKING OVERLAP RUNS ON THE OTHER FLANK DOING THE SAME THIS COULD BE VERY EXICTING ESPIACALLY IF MORRISON GET THE SERVICE HE NEEDS WE COULD EVEN GET 3 POINTS

He's an Argentinian brought up in Spanish football,so many on here post they are fed up with long ball stuff, now I don't know wheather this bloke is any good or what, but given his background one thing's for sure, a long ball merchant he won't be, and given that we have no cover at left back when LOWREY cements the centre back slot he's gotta be worth a punt, especially if he is a good defensive full back.

@Jim28: before we signed this lad we had no cover at LB, we all know Lowry is a CB. This is a decent signing to cover LB and also ensure Malone knows he has to fight for his place

Normally I'd say here we go with another 30 plus player. My gut feeling here though is that he has been bought to play. I can't see the point in signing him on a short term deal to play in the reserves. Therefore, he's earmarked to play left back for the first team. Not midfield.
Malone has pressure from the return of Lowry albeit he's a centre half now but how many right/left backs do we need ?
My only worry/concern here, apart from not knowing anything about him, is (A) Is he fit enough ? (B) Is he actually going to oust Malone ? and (C) How long is to going to take him to fit in ?

@NICKOLA: Maybe Olly wants Malone to play left mid and see's him as an attacker rather than a defender. I wouldn't mind seeing that happen.

@Eightieswall: That does make some sense given the issues and injuries we currently have in that position. But, it's asking yet another player to play in a postion he's not used to nor trained for and if you look at how many games we've got left I'd say christ !. This could go on forever, and we've seen 4/5 attackers in a game to try and get a result. Normally, we'd all agree if that was another team, it would be of smacking of desperation, but because its Ollie and Millwall we let it go. If we were already mathematically safe but with no chance of promotion then go for it, and blood the youngsters. However, we're not and our survival at Championship level is absolutely vital this season. Without that, the gate will drop to 6k- ?I've had enough' syndrome and also JB will be on his toes, which would mean another investor. With the surrounding land technically gone, who is going to invest in Millwall as a Football Club ?

@NICKOLA: I agree Nickola and have been a bit worried about all the changes. Going a goal behind and then going gun ho to salvage a point,I think a better team than bolton would have picked us off once we went 4 up front just as Reading did. I understand that Olly has to learn quickly and find his best team but i dont think its time to start gambling just yet.A bit of stability wouldn't go amiss.

I actually think that, Yeovil excepted when apparently he went AWOL, Malone's defensive play has been pretty good of late. In fact it was his attacking play against Bolton that wasn't up to what he is capable of producing. But I'm wondering if maybe IH recognises, as so many of us on this site do, that we need a decent winger, and that, a la Gareth Bale who converted from left back to forward, he might be considering Malone for a similar transformation. Who knows, we may get £85 million for him in a few years ! ! (Tongue slightly in cheek.)

Its been suggested that this guy has been brought in to allow malone to play more as a winger ,i hope that is how it turns out, because malone has every thing going for him as an attacker,he is a gangly awkward annoying type of player.I think he would scare the daylight's out of defender's if he was given total freedom to go forward and not have to worry about defensive duties. As far as bailey is concerned i think he will not be able to last a full 90 mins ,so put malone left mid- field and let woolford be the attacking mid-fielder and upson and williams as the play makers that IMO would be a fantastic mid-field,with bailey and co as subs and perhaps jimmy when we need a ball winner come spoiler in certain games.

I'll pay the duty on him at the airport no prob, just get him while you'r wherever you are going. If you come back without him ,then it's your fault we are in the s***. This makes a lot of sense, we have one good LB in our squad so whether he's cover or genuine competition, we need another LB to ensure we don't start playing players out of position.
