MILLWALL are close to completing the permanent signing of Aston Villa defender Shane Lowry.
Lowry, who has also had stints at Leeds, Sheffield United and Plymouth, has made nine starts for the Lions since joining the club on loan in November.
And after conceding earlier this month that he wanted to hold on to the Australian defender, boss Kenny Jackett is keen on getting the deal done before the January transfer window shuts next week.
"It is something we are working on," he told the News Shopper.
"Our chief executive Andy Ambler is working with Villa on it at the minute but I don't expect the deal to be done before Saturday."
Meanwhile, Jackett has moved to deny speculation that he is set to sign Stevenage left-back Scott Laird. NewsAtDen revealed last week that the Lions had made an enquiry for the 23-year-old.
However, the Lions boss did admit that he was in the stands on Tuesday night as Laird scored in Stevenage's 4-2 win over MK Dons, fuelling speculation the defender could be the subject of an imminent bid.
