MILLWALL favourite Tim Cahill will return to The Den with the Australian national team when they take on Ecuador in a friendly on March 5.

The Soceroos will use the game against South American opposition to prepare for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where they have been drawn in a group with Spain, Holland and Chile.

Cahill, who scored 52 goals in 217 appearances for the Lions between 1998 and 2004, was on target three times during Australia's qualifying campaign for this summer's tournament.

The 34-year-old tweeted: "That's awesome – going back to where it all started @MillwallFC."

Millwall duo Scott McDonald and Shane Lowry will also hope to feature in the game.

Tickets are available from www.millwalltickets.com.

    Be nice to see a quality player down here for a change, could still probably walk back into our side.
    Come on Ollie get him till the end of the season.

    Gutted I thought he was coming to play for us during the MLS break like others have done. But there may still be time to let the current crop of Millwall players to watch a former Millwall great in action at the place that he onced graced.

        @Jim28: Jim,
        I have miss placed it, but you would have thought that this must have gone through someones mind at the club before this story, and I think Tim must have a soft spot for us as well.Even if it was for just a few games like to the end of March he could make a big difference, espically at the back stick (if then can cross that far). Come Ollie do your magic and tempt Tim.

    If we had Tim back on loan until the end of the season we would stay up! We tend to forget the real quality players that once graced Millwall's pitch, Steven Reid is another.

    Saw tc interviewed recently at the cricket in aust and he spoke so fondly of his time at millwall, as a matter of fact I don't think he mentioned any other teams. S*** for me on a personal level, il miss it by a month but hopefully it,l draw a good crowd and generate sum good revenue for the club. Is that right that millwall would get a good cut of the takings?

    Have to say when I first saw TCs name mentioned I thought brilliant. Who knows it could come off, shear quality player true legend would love to see him until end of season. Wears his heart on the shirt. Come on ollie grab him. One of the best headers of a ball.

    Nearly shot my load when I saw the first line of this story, what an addition to the team he'd be at the moment. He'd get that true Wall spirit back in the team.

    Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite post Old Den player by a mile. Commited, loyal, under rated and sold for 1/4 of the price he was worth.
