Millwall defender a doubt for Burnley trip with groin strain

IAN Holloway has revealed that centre back Danny Shittu is a major doubt for Millwall's trip to Burnley this weekend with a groin strain.

Holloway said: "Danny's got a sore groin. I think it will keep him out.

"Obviously we're already without Shane Lowry, who's suspended. I like that kid, I think he's going to be a really good player.

"He's very important to us with his aggression, getting us up the field and with the way he organises the back four.

"Paul Robinson is a lot fitter than he was, so Danny's injury will give somebody else a chance in the team.

"We're fighting for our lives and they're fighting to go up, so there is pressure either way."

Another player who could return to the fold this weekend is Scott McDonald.

Holloway revealed last week that he had asked the Australian to "deal with how he feels and where he is in his mind."

"He has been absolutely fine," Holloway said. "He looks sharp, he looks happy – he looks the way he should have done.

"I've got some half-decent choices up front now."

S***, that's a blow! Danny's really ramped it up the last few weeks. Time for the others to step up.

Ollie just a thought not trying to pick the team, but how about using Beevers as a center back to replace Shittu and the use Williams as the other CB as you did last Saturday when you replaced the CB with a forward. Just a thought though.

@Barnlion: What about playing Jake Goodman for this game there's no point him keeping the stand seat warm .
Give him a chance he was getting good reviews at Luton then Aldershot when on loan and he must be hungry to prove he's worth his place ?

@millwallpete: I completeley agree. What is the point having someone waiting for a chance that millwall say has potential and then never play him. Typical millwall! Giving some of our youngsters contracts, sending them out on loan, great reviews and then never hearing from them again.
Reading the match reports on the aldershot website he has to be given a chance. Let's see what young talent we have and give him a chance.

@kentlion: Kent it just seems like our managers are just too quick to take youngsters on loan from other clubs without giving our own a chance.
One appearance by Fred for the season so far seems like a lot of investment and time for the rewards so far!!!

Well that's a right kick in the Nads! We've not got that many options for CB, think that's one area that keeps being overlooked and could really do with strenghening.

Couldn't get any worse, Danny has been in superb form last few games, it reveals though how fragile our defence is and cannot understand why we have not signed another defender,

    Ouch, huge loss.
Have to agree with barn and kenny
Put williams in with beevers and we do need to sign a CH.
Not expecting much up there but with some decent tactics from the off who knows ? maybe we can park the bus and bore them shitless and catch em on the break.

would be a stiff test for Robbo with their forwards...but at some time we need to give his fitness levels a test!

I would put Williams back there with Beevers. That would be a more mobile pairing than with Robbo who i hate to say, hasn't been the same players since hes long lay off. We have Upson coming it with Bailey and Chaplow deemed fit and available, so we wont be too light in midfield. Its not a total disaster!

Two left sided CBs might not be the best solution.

@Mr Den: I dont think thats a problem. You often get 2 right sided CBs playing together. Williams looks two footed to me.

@Windy: I agree there windy and from what we saw of him on Saturday he looked like he could be a good un, looked good in both the positions Ollie played him, but still a shame about Danny thou.

Will be interesting to see who he palys and what performance we get from the whole team, the boys up front oew us big time, not done the business at all this season.

@Barnlion: I reckon he will go and try and get something from this game, Ollie ain't defensive is he! He will definitely bring back Fordey, Bailey & Martin and hopefully Chaplow.

A fit Robbo can cover Danny shittu's position. He would be my first choice alongside Beevers.

@glyngo: I would love to agree with you about Robbo. But although he's totally committed and will put he's body on the line for the cause, I think he's too much of a liability in other areas. With Ings and & Vokes in the form that they are in, you just cannot make any mistakes. Robbo has too many mistakes in him at the minute.

@Windy: Lets see what condition he is in after the Ollie fitness regime was put in place. For me DS is all about aerial dominance and Robbo does that too, but is also a bt more mobile than DS. It's easy to forget how good Robbo is when he is fit because he has been out for so long.

WHAT EVER I DO FEEL THAT WE CAN WIN UP THERE.
AND WE WILL BE THERE TO WITNESS IT , FIRST - HAND.

Do what all the others do, fall on the floor , roll around In agony, hold something that ain't been touched, and get the other geez sent off, these muggy refs love it. And I ain't blaming LOWREY for what's happened to shittu, I'm blaming LOWREY for what he done, and what he always does.

@jim28, ok ollie wants his fullbacks bombing on up the pitch, so when he's out of position its lowreys job as left sided centre back to get out there on the cover ( for malone ) now why lowrey, has to foul him right out there f*** knows, but he does, but when the fella wrestles him to the ground he should have rolled around like that cheating spaniard did to get carrol sent off the other day, some people just never learn.

@Jim28: you mean act like Burnley under Dyche, rolling around on the floor, time wasting, shirt pulling , in the refs face every five minutes, you where like that for 90 minutes at the Den and where lucky to get away with a point. .....just make sure you give our seats a clean before we get there and have a general sweep around, I am sure you will be able to find lots of people with nothing to do.

@jim28: when i used to play, i used to react just as lowrey does, and like lowrey i spent a lot of time not playing, basicly letting all around me down. so if we have it your way , and my old way the cheats win every time. and jim , its not literal, i'm saying don't react, just sit on the floor, not the double pike with 6 twists the swansea p**** done.

Shame to hear he's out but not surprised he's picked up an injury. Was bound to happen after spending the rest of the season not moving.

Realistically Burnley wasn't a game we were likely to pick up any points so hopefully he'll be back for the much more winnable and frankly need to win games against the teams around us in he next couple of weeks.

Though the Swansea player acted like a p**** I will let him off as it led to West Hams best player missing 3 games.
