Wantaway Trotter leaves Millwall to join Bolton on loan

LIAM Trotter has joined Bolton on loan until the end of the season.

Millwall reluctantly allowed the midfielder to move to the Reebok Stadium on a temporary basis, even though they would have preferred a permanent deal.

Bolton also wanted to buy Trotter but could not come up with the funds in time. As a result, they have agreed to pay the Lions a six-figure fee in the summer.

Trotter made it clear to manager Ian Holloway that he wanted to move on, having rejected numerous contract offers over the past 18 months.

Holloway claimed Trotter would have been "disgruntled" if talks had fallen through.

As Ollie said if they don't want to be part of HIS Millwall then goodbye. Thanks Trotter but he hasn't shown the form he had three seasons ago and it's best for both parties that he departs. Should be very interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets if he plays against us

Ollie keeping his word if you dont want to be in the fight then F*** off lets see how he preforms up North, he will need to move a lot quicker if he wants to keep warm when he gets up there, I wonder if its because of the new manager upping the fittness of the players and the tempo of our game, or was he always going to get a move.

Best result we could have hoped for with him being free agent in the summer. Didn't fulfil his full potential with us but only has himself to look at as to why. Hope he's as lazy at Bolton.

Glad this one has happened, no point having a player that isn't happy at the club. No real loss IMO too inconsistent and failed to live up to his potential.

Good player, but attitude and work ethic make the man. Has failed to play to his potential and least now we can develop a new midfield hope rather than watch in disappointment most weeks. Don't think this is the wisest move by the club in terms of destination but agree with IH philosophy that we should only have a squad of players who want to be at the club. On a plus I will no longer have to put up with seeing him nonchalantly relaxing with tall cup of Starbucks whilst stroking his beard in Bromley Glades every week...

@sadlier89: To be honest mate he has been doing that for a while at the end of the game he does not acknowlege the crowd at goes stright down the tunnel, so he will not miss us, so why should we miss him.

But I would wish him well and not of the 15th of next month even though he cant play against us and I think that he may find the pace of division one is slower than the championship.

This will be why we got Williams in. I think he was one of our best players and could do things the others couldn't, and we look one-dimensional without him, but like James Henry he did frustrate me. First time we played at Brighton's new ground, he bossed that game like a young Patrick Vieira, but every game like that there were 10 where he just let the game pass him by or went through the motions. Which is why he's only going to Bolton and not Everton or Villa. As I said on the McDonald thread, Holloway is trying to instill team spirit (and god knows we need it) so f*ck off anyone who's unhappy.

I'd wish him good luck if geniuly put in 100% for the club but to be honest his played like a c*** for a long time and I thought he needed to regain his form but no he wanted to leave for a long time and his been pinching money for a long time 18 month says it all. So no trotter go f*** yourself.

Most saw him as a very lazy midfielder, I saw nearly all his matches for Millwall and can't say remember apart from one match when he made a good goal, him being very good for us.

Cheerio Liam. No great loss in my opinion. Played with his thumb firmly wedged up his a*** for too long now. Overated! Didn't want to play for Millwall and obviously would prefer to play for Dougie Freedman than Ian Holloway? Thats just baffling! Ah well, thanks for nothing Liam. Do us a favour and take feeney with you!

Once again, probably best for both parties. Yes he's gone to a relegation rival, but don't be to sure he'll 'turn it on for them'.
The sad thing about Trotter is that he has all the attributes to be a great player, but lacks commitment and heart. Trotter always gave me the impression he was to good to be at Millwall, a little bit like James Henry.
Out with the old and in with the new.
    Let the revolution begin!

Well I think it's good that he has gone to championship side down the bottom with us, cos he will be as useless in their midfield as he was in ours I m o.

I can't pretend not to be pi55ed off about this - not because we're losing a great player because we aren't but if Bolton couldnt come up with the funds in time then thats their problem! Trotter has basically pi55ed in the face of the club who took him on when only Scunthorpe wanted him and has been stealing a living for the past 2/3 seasons with his bad attitude and laziness! I dont understand the agreement on this fee either - how can Bolton be paying a fee for a player who will at the time available for free?!?

Trotter always divided opinions and never full-filled his potential.
Will we miss him? Maybe. Maybe Not.
    Is he easily replaceable? Yes

Good player when he wants to be, but hasn't been putting the effort in for a long time now.
Never really been the same since his first big injury, lost almost all the pace he once had after that (which is why most see him as being lazy imo) and also hasn't been making tackles since then either, looks scared to get injured again.

Once thought he might be a box-to-box midfield ala Tim Cahill, but he injury or attitude saw him degenerate into a one dimensional passenger player that needs two CMs around him to do his work.

For someone who wants to play 'in the hole'.. has only got 13 assists in three seasons... which is very poor, although he generally chips in with 5-10 goals a season, its just never been good enough or consistent enough.

Bottom line is we very well might be stronger with him in the Squad, but we always looked weaker and unbalanced with him in the team as he just wasn't defensively responsible enough to play in CM, nor really effective or consistent enough to play behind the striker.

Looks likely 'Wall are gaining Williams and Upson for Trotter, which is excellent business no matter what your view on Trotter might be.

@Barnlion: yer mate I do think he's a decent player but he doesn't give it any b*******. You have to show you care at millwall. I think we need a unit in CM unless Williams is set to run things?

it is clear he was part of a disruptive element - a big head not matched by his talent - it is the start of a new era to get rid of immature people like him - We need proper professional people - Holloway has esentially called his bluff - after ages of acting like he wants to leave IH has said, go then; we don't need you, we can get better

BYE BYE Liam and take your childish attitude with you

      @TheBermondseyBomber:
relax..... its only 3 (THREE) league games Yeovil have played 'this year' and he is on his way back from a injury he suffered on Dec 29th. He has been getting some game time since, but they were being very careful as they didn't want him crocked in the transfer window with his contract expiring and clubs interested in him!

It's always been likely he would move on from Yeovil at end of season, so their manager Johnson is pre-pairing for next season... similar to Paddy Madden situation... or Trotter for us really.

For anyone who doesn't know who Ed Upson is....

I watched him last game carefully and I remember saying at one point "f****** hell trotter is running" I thought he was trying to be a team player but must if been a Bolton rep in the stands. He never wanted to be here always looked misserable so f*** off and take ur s*** goal celebrations with you.

Trotter has had some good years with Millwall but I think it is in the best interest for the club to let him go now. IMO. The last couple of seasons he has not been giving it 100% in any game that I have watched, can't remember the last time he jumped for a header. IH has has done the right thing in bringing fresh new faces to Millwall, he is doing it his way which I think is right for Millwall. Still believe in IH. UP THE TABLE WE WILL GO E I E I E I O.
