IAN Holloway has expressed his delight at the signing of Shaun Williams.
The MK Dons star has completed a medical and will sign a two-and-a-half year contract with Millwall after turning down a move to rivals Brighton.
News of the Lions' persuit of the 27-year-old was first revealed by NewsAtDen last week.
Holloway has confirmed that he wants to restore Williams to his preferred position in the centre of midfield, having played in defence for the Dons this season.
He said: "Shaun is someone I have liked for a long, long time. I couldn't afford him before – this time last year, MK Dons wanted £1million for him.
"I've managed to talk the chairman into buying him now, even though we could have waited until the summer when he would have been a free transfer.
"He had other options but he chose us. Hopefully he'll work well with the way I want to play.
"I want him to step him on now and help us immediately but, also in the long term, to get better than he already is.
"In the past, my teams have passed and moved the ball quickly and he wants to be a part of that. I spoke to him about my vision of him and where he will be in the future.
"I don't just see him as a centre half, I see him as an Iniesta, Xavi or a Charlie Adam type. I would let him go forward and give him a free role.
"His left foot is like a wand and he can create things around the edge of the box. Hopefully he's buying into our vision for him, rather than money."
Williams will wear shirt number 17 and is expected to go straight into the squad to face Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.
