Preview: Millwall vs. Leicester City

DANNY Shittu returns from suspension for Millwall's New Year's Day clash with Leicester City at The Den.

Shittu has served a one-match ban triggered by his red card against Watford on Boxing Day and is set for a recall to the Lions squad.

Caretaker bosses Neil Harris and Scott Fitzgerald will assess the fitness of club captain Paul Robinson, who has been hampered by both shin and thigh problems, but Liam Trotter is expected to miss out again with a knee injury.

The Foxes, who returned to the Championship summit with a 5-3 win over Bolton on Sunday, are currently without ex-Millwall pair Chris Wood and Sean St Ledger.

Striker Jamie Vardy is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign.

      @bermlion:
We can't play with 12 players?
      I would also prefer a 4 4 2 that has the ability to become a 3 5 2 or a 4 5 1 when necessary.
For that reason Danny need to stay on the bench because the Leicester forwards are far too fas for him.

Can't wait to put on the shirt tomorrow morning. New year, new Millwall I say. Bit of a touch that Vardy is out with suspension. Piece of advice Bomber, don't change the team unless imperative i.e. injury. We need the team to gel and bringing in Shittu, as much as I like him, will be our downfall in the game tomorrow.

Unless Trotter is fit don't change it. Three points would be magic, one would be great, but above all a team performance full of passion. If we go down fighting it's still a step forward from where we were after the 'Boro game!

As long as they are all fit leave the team unchanged from the one that drew with Doncaster. It has been announced on Sky News that Neil and Scott will be in charge for the next 2 matches. Does this mean that a permanent appointment is imminent from next Monday? Dave Jones has suddenly appeared as a 2/1 favourite on the bookies odds so has a decision already been made or am I jumping to the wrong conclusion?

@Peckhamlad: he is 15/8 favourite on Paddy Power this morning.

In our recent poll, he received 8 votes which amounted to 0% out of 2300 votes.

So at least he will have the backing of 8 fans. Lol.

Peckhamlad@Peckhamlad: I have compared his management win %age with some of the other candidates in the bookies odds and they aren't too bad.

His figure is 40.59% which is higher than Warnock 40.37,Holloway 37.45,Megson 36.66,Zola 36.13. Kean is only 28.38 and Appleton 24.05. Slade was the other possibility but most of his figure relate to lower league clubs. His figure for Brighton was only 28.12.
The only higher figures were Mowbray 43.11 and Coyle 40.91.

Based on these figures he doesn't seem a bad choice. He has plenty of Championship experience and lots of contact in the game. Certainly no worse than any of the other applicants. Time will tell but as you say if he can be brought in quickly the Transfer Window is now open and he can do some wheeling and dealing.

    Happy New Year all.
My personal highlight of 2013 was the 16 hours round trip to Blackburn away in the FA cup quarter finals. Pure magic as me and 6 of my pals partied like the old days from the moment we got in our seven seater taxi to the moment we got out after a fantastic victory. I wish that I could see that Danny Shittu again for Millwall but I dont think I ever will. Until next year. I hope you and your loved ones have a fantastic evening. Cheers.

Happy New Year to one and all. Whatever happens between now and the end of January is out of our hands so let's just support our club. But I have a cunning plan, how about showing the board, and the chairman and each other how much we support and love this club. On January 20th our youngsters are playing in the 4th round of the youth cup. Let's get down there in numbers and show the kids how much we rate them, and the board that we will support this club no matter what. 8000 for a youth game what message would that send out. £5 a ticket PASS IT ON !

@Peckhamlad: 3rd goal was inconsequential really. We may have given Leicester a "battering" for a while but we didn't give their goal much of a battering which is what really counts. You can huff and puff all you like but unless you get that round thing over the goal line it means nothing.
