Lomas vows he won't quit after ten-man Millwall lose again

STEVE Lomas insists he will not resign as Millwall manager.

Lomas is under increasing pressure after the Lions suffered their third straight league defeat at Watford on Boxing Day.

Danny Shittu's early sending off gave the visitors a mountain to climb and they were resoundingly beaten 4-0 at Vicarage Road.

When asked whether he would resign, Lomas said: "I've never quite before and I am not going to quit now. I will rally the troops and put out a side that can win at Doncaster.

"The penalty and sending off is tough to take after ten minutes, but it is no excuse for the performance afterwards. I asked for a bit of spirit, passion and commitment [but didn't get it] and we've got to do much better with the goals.

"The only people who can get us out of this is the players and we've got to see who is fit for the Doncaster game because we are carrying quite a few injuries."

@JONO: Do you think it would help Steve LOmas if I mentioned he was German? Born in Hannover apparently - May tip a few of our more dissenting followers over the edge. Please remember that JB deserves our respect more than most for the relative recent success brought to the club - without the considerable resources of most of the others around us. Trust JB - we must!

Obstinate ain't he? He will have to be shoved out and only the board and the disgust of the fans can do that. Get moving JB.

He won't resign as he won't get a pay off unless he gets sacked! So JB get your a*** in gear, and give him a pay off just get rid now, not after the festive fixtures cos this will be to late, we are dropping down every week and not long before we are holding the rest up!!

He must be reading these comments taking advice from people on here, he took Malone out, Dunne and Robbo almost exactly what someone suggested on here two days ago..... Big mistake Malone is quality, im up for trying Lowry as CB though.

@JONO: was thinking heust be reading forums too. Of course hecwon't resign as he will get no compensation bit that is what JB & AA should have considered appointing an unproven person in a manager's role. He has signed poor defensive cover and GK cover and too and don't think he has ability to get the CB replacements we need in Jan.

If SL is reading then do the honourable thing and let someone else do the job (not Kean though as poor with Blackburn).

Jog on Lomas. 44 goals shipped in 22 matches. Even the bottom 3 have let in less goals. Surely todays result should be the final straw with the board, we'll inevitably be beaten by Doncaster, and most likely slip into the bottom 3. Get rid of this clown before it's too late. Lomas Out!

I think we should give him a chance to turn it around, I can see us winning at Donny then turning over Leicester, with robbo and shittu in the middle at the back we will tighten up and make a late push for the play offs

@thecolumbusblock: no disrespect to you mate but are you on drugs!! why can u see us winning those games? we are a complete shambles SL HAS NOT GOT A CLUE. i hate having a go at our own players/manager but this is clearly about SLs pay off, if he gave a t*** about our club he would do the right thing and at least give us a chance of staying up. PLEASE GO.

How about this as an agreement with Lomas?

Lomas says in the peice above (and he's said similar before but no one on the board holds him to account or challenges him):

"I will rally the troops and put out a side that can win at Doncaster"

It sounds good - but when you read it closely it's totally meaningless because you can't measure it. What does he actually DO to rally the troops? Do they feel 'rallied'? They don't play as if they are. And a 'side that CAN win at Doncaster'. Today's team could have won. But they didn't. That little word 'can' is meaningless, isn't it Steve?

    So Steve what about saying:

"I will do the following to galvanise the team .... and then put out a side that will win at Doncaster. And if it doesn't win, I will resign."

Say that and we will applaud you. Then we can all look forward to the New Year. If you don't win you go. Simple.

Personally, I would not give you one more minute with my team.

But it's an offer which, if you accepted, would win you some respect.

Ive got to the stage where i am losing massive interest in following millwall. every game is a nothing performance there is no morale or incentive at the club that is the major worry even over the results the club needs a big freshen up in players and staff its been the same for to long now its getting to point of depressing knowing its game day!

Of course he wont resign as said above he would lose his pay off. Ambler reoresenting the board publicly said that they needed to see a reaction today. They never did so for them to have any credibility left they will now show him the door. So relax a little bit everyone and enjoy the rest of your Xmas break because I dont believe Steve Lomas will be our manager for the Doncaster match. I think all that matters now is who is replacing him.

If it's taking this long to negotiate his payoff, then just suspend him. Put him on gardening leave and put Harris in temporary charge. This team is like a headless body stumbling towards 24th place.
