Millwall youngsters progress to FA Youth Cup fourth round

MILLWALL'S U18s progressed to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-0 win away at Bradford City on Tuesday evening.

The young Lions booked a home tie with Sheffield United in January after goals from Alfie Pavey, John-Prince Rylah and Fred Onyedinma at Valley Parade.

Striker Pavey, who joined the club's academy from Maidstone United last summer, opened the scoring just before half time before teeing up Rylah for the second after the restart.

Captain Sid Nelson was sent off but Onyedinma, fresh from signing his first professional contract at The Den, made sure of the win in stoppage time.

Tim to at least get Fred on the bench of in the squad to travel away etc etc. Otherwise we will end up with another so called Wonder Kid either getting poached or p****** it away (Samba, Hearn, Ashikodi).

Again this is a game Palace and the Scum play better than us.

Really promising news, there is a decent squad coming through and good to see that they have the sense to sign professional terms with a club where they might actually get a game.

What's the right back and centre halves like? Heard millwall football club have a leaky defence, so get the youngsters in, a clean sheet on a rainy night in Yorkshire is no mean fete!!

@dpendet: SL says he wants to get some loan experience for the youth players. It's obvious to anyone who needs them most. Loan them to our own first team squad. It can only improve us. we've already got the worst defence in the Championship.

@Profiler4: If SL dont chage the clubs fortune soon they will be able to getr lower division experiance with Millwall.

Well done the youth team for giving us something to cheer about and look forward to seeing many of them come through into the first team in time. They cannot be rushed and it took a while for the likes of Teddy Sheringham, Nicky Coleman, Kevin O'Callaghan Jimmy Carter and others to break into the first team. Hopefully these lads are the future it will be great to see them in the FAYC final.

Sorry but on the whole I think I may even prefer our present fullbacks to Coleman

Coleman was the worst player I ever saw at Millwall. I remember writing to the club asking why he was even a pro footballer....never got a reply

I didn't think our U18 defenders were up to much when I saw them at Bromley in pre season friendly, but Fred was different class. Def worth a game in FA Cup v Sarfend see how he gets on

@ beedo, can't go with that mate, southend is a difficult game for us, but very important for us to stay in the cup for as long as poss because of the money it gives us, fred is only 17 , he's a kid , we need our strongest team at southend and hopefuly stay in the competition and maybe get a big premier side in the next round, at the den the place would be rocking, and a good pay day for the club.
