Preview: Millwall vs. Wigan Athletic

GUY Moussi comes into contention for Saturday's clash against Wigan but could be forced to settle for a place on the Millwall bench.

Moussi sat out the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest in midweek as he was ineligible to face his parent club, and is set for an immediate return to the squad.

But Lions boss Steve Lomas is not expected to make many – if any – chances to his starting line up after a much-improved performance on Tuesday night.

Scott McDonald could come in for Martyn Waghorn up front but the Leicester City loanee linked up well with strike partner Steve Morison against the Reds.

Nicky Bailey is out with a knee injury and Richard Chaplow has re-aggrivated a groin strain, but Millwall have an otherwise fully fit squad.

For Wigan, Gary Caldwell and Ali Al Habsi are both sidelined with injury but Scott Carson returned to the side against Leeds United in midweek after an ankle problem.

@wall2wall: I would bring Moussi in, but that would be my only change as he will add more strength and height to the Middle!!

I really feel for Chaplow, such a good player when match fit and able to string a few games together, but yet another injury!

Jimmy to start I hope and he can always bring Moussi on later if he wants.
I agree about Chaplow. So frustrating for him and us. If I remember rightly his wife miscarried like Keogh's so his head is probably elsewhere. I hope he soon gets that run of games. as you say a very good player.

@wall2wall: That's true, I hope he and his wife are well!! Can't be nice going through something like that and to top it off having injury after injury, he seems like a nice enough bloke just hope he and Keogh can get their heads right as they are both very good players on their day!

Surely got to be more positive than we're gonna lose 2-1... with that attitude no point turning up!! If we win 4-0 you will end up kicking yourself in the nuts!!

I hope we win, we can beat anyone on our day!! Belief is a great thing!!

The problems tomorrow is that Wigan are a football team - unlike us.And they could have Rosler in the stands, which means the Wigan players will want to impress. Can only see a draw as the best we can do.

I just want to feel that I have paid my hard earned and had some value for money that's all!
It pains me greatly when I watch us and we simply don't turn up, or we fail to show the resilience and tenacity I know we can offer. I work bloody hard for my money 60 plus hours every week and to be quite honest, as loyal supporters we deserve better than we have had to put up with!

Talk is cheap as far as I am concerned and considering the amount of games we have so far played I am fed up with the excuses. Pride should be a pre requisite when pulling on a Wall shirt, and as far as I am concerned that commodity is currently in far to short a supply.

Let's make tomorrow a day to remember and simply do what you get paid handsomely for.

I would prefer to see Moussi play alongside Trotter they may make a formidable combination. If things are not going to plan then hope the manager has the wit to bring on Easter this time.

Another tough test. but am fairly confident we will pick up all three points!

      Forde
Dunne Robinson Beevers Malone ( PLEASE NO SHITTU)
      Moussi Trotter Abdou Martin
      Morison Waghorn
      That's 442 Lomas. Got it ?

You might be right but I think that given Bailey and Chaplow are injured, and their omission weakens the midfield, he'll want to bring Woolford and McDonald on as subs to liven things up.

Seriously I think playing Malone wide left will give Lowry cover as he is better defending than woolford. I also think his distribution from wide is better as well.

@bonnie1272: fair play mate, although Lowry didn't play so unable to consider a fair comparison!!
Seriously though, and not wishing to sound despondent on a day when we have gained an important win, Dunne and Robinson were skinned time again today by a very average left winger who made them look as though they were standing still! We need to improve drastically and I truly I wish I could be and feel moe positive, but in am struggling. A soft goal for Wigan at the end shows yet again our poor defensive strategy, and I am, despite my earlier defence of him, struggling to accept that Lomas has the ability to cope in this division.

I know a lot of people want us to play 442 but that's not always best at home or not, the problem we've got is our squad of players is picking our formation via being inform / fit etc. I think against Leeds we played 451 giving Malone options to bomb forward. 451 for me please

442 is good if the opposition plays that system, then your matched up. people on here have to understand if your opponents put five accross midfield, as pretty much all of em do these days and we line up 442 , we will get outnumbered and over run in midfield. i don't think lomas is as big a mug as some of you seem to think ,i'm pretty sure he'd love to have two up top all the time just as we all would, but he can't hand over the midfield to the opposition,he has to match up, he can't take one from the back and push him up, they can't defend as a four, so 442 great but dodgy, because if you'r second best in midfield you don't get the ball to your front two and they become isolated and out the game.

@bordersarebest0170: I disagree. We have looked pony playing 5 across midfield this year.
Isn't it about time that our opposition worries about us. That's not being naive either. If we use Malone wide left we allow cover for the left side when defending and Abdiu can cover right side. He can't go both ways and that's why the cb's keep getting split.

We have no player in our squad up front that holds the ball up sufficiently to allow the midfield to join the attack and hence we need two up top. That way we may get the odd flick on to capitalise and get some goals.

Also waghoen and Malone in my opinion work hard and give us wide options, that woolford and feeney don't. Neither of them two are good at defending and that exposes both the full backs.

But that's football, a game of opinions.

I guess we will find out later today.

      Come in millwall.

Look it's not rocket science, with our Sunday pub side we had a squad of 16 regular players, we all knew our positions and we all knew basically how we needed to play and we all had the desire to win. We didn't need a smart a*** to tell us anything about tactics as everyone on the pitch was doing that for us and we very quickly found out our opponents strengths and weaknesses. My point is when a manager gets sacked the team's next managerless game usually ends with a win, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday recently prove the point and if you do some research this many others will be found although I accept Wigan are the exception But I feel with Wigan, Rosler today will watching from the stands, he will then do some fine tuning for their following game, possibly with consultation with the players, after all they know how they should be playing and their best positions. His hands will be tied until January so he is stuck with the players he has got. But I bet he won't chop and change every week, dropping good players and p****** them off. I also feel sure they will become a team challenging for promotion where as Lomas after 18 games is still be trying to find his best team even after throwing loan players on the pitch and that's why we are trying to avoid relegation. Stick with the players you have got SL let them have more say in team selection and they will be the team we want to come and watch. How did we cope in the past before the loan system when we had no money to buy players? We got on with it and we virtually knew the team that was playing week in week out and going two season in two different leagues without losing at home. As I said it's not rocket science.
