Millwall boss: Trotter put body on the line against Forest

BOSS Steve Lomas has praised Liam Trotter's determination to play 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest having only just recovered from a groin injury.

Trotter was given a 50-50 chance of facing the Reds in the days leading up to Tuesday's clash but declared himself fit to start – and ended  up playing the whole game.

And Lomas hailed the midfielder's selfless attitude.

He said: "Liam put himself out there – he will play with niggles for the sake of the team – for which he is to be commended. The fans sometimes don't get to see that side of him.

"I thought he was brilliant. After two weeks off with a groin injury, he knew how much we needed him with Guy Moussi and Nicky Bailey missing. He put himself on the line again.

"Liam is sometimes a little bit unappreciated because of his languid style and he looks a bit lazy, but I can assure you his running stats stack up – not with Jimmy Abdou's admittedly – but with a lot of other midfielders'.

"He was excellent for someone who has had very little training recently and he is going to be essential for us over this next period of games. We need him fit and firing."

After having my doubts about Liams worth to the the team over the last year, I have to say I believe he is a very important player for us now, and lets pray he can stay fit and will sign a new contract. COME ON WALL LETS SORT IT OUT. Dont think I could take league one again

Sorry, this really does not make any sense. Trotter was 50-50 to play, but declares himself fit, not the physio or medical team. Lomas says we need him fit and firing, but alows him to play with niggles for the sake of the team. He is either fit to play or not, risking people who are not properly fit, is not the brightest idea in the world. But what do I know. Perhaps Trotter could have a look at Bailey to see if he is fit.

A vital player and we look a much better team with him in it. He has his doubters and yes he does look lazy at times but that is just his style.

Hopefully he's over his injury and will be back to his best soon as we certainly need him. Get that new contract sorted ASAP.

Smith looks like he'd be willing to put his body on the line for him as well in that photo.

Load of s*** as usual but what else should we expect from this idiot guiding us to relegation.

One win in nine = going down

Liam is by far the best midfield player in the team, haven't seen Moussi play at his best yet but both of them together will certainly strengthen the middle, hopefully Liam will sign a new contract because without him the side loses its playmaker. With Wigan losing last night they are going to come at us from the start, no more late injuries please and give Easter a chance.

@HERMAN: You hit the nail on the head about holloway, yuor right we cant afford him,now sit down and think of who we can afford and probably they would be a lot worse than lomas, unless you are going to put your hand in your pocket and make the cash available to get the messiah that all the anti lomas brigade want.
