Millwall boss tells players to cut out errors against Wigan

STEVE Lomas says Millwall must make opposition teams work harder for their goals after giving up a "cheap" equaliser against Nottingham Forest in midweek.

Nathaniel Chalobah's simple header from a corner in the 2-2 draw proved to be a source of great frustration for the Lions boss.

But Lomas was pleased with most others aspects his side's performance and has called for a repeat showing when Wigan visit The Den on Saturday.

"If somebody whacks one in from 30 yards, or beats three or four men and scores, then we accept that," he said.

"At times you are going to come up against quality players who are able to produce that – like Andy Reid did with the first goal.

"Obviously free headers in the box are not good enough. We put together two very good moves for our goals and then gave one away cheaply, which was disappointing.

"Wigan have a massive squad and it is full of very good players. We've got to replicate the levels we hit on Tuesday night whilst at the same time cut out the silly buydiazepambest.com goals."

It looks increasingly likely that the Latics, who are currently in talks with Brentford's Uwe Rosler about becoming their new manager, will be taken by caretaker Graham Barrow.

Barrow was placed in charge following the sacking of Owen Coyle last weekend and Lomas admits he was surprised to see the Scot lose his job.

"I do think it was a bit strange," he said. "Roberto Martinez had been there for a long time and there had been a big turnover of players since Owen took over.

"The situation of having to play in Europe on a Thursday and in the league on a Sunday might have knocked them out of a routine."

Scott Malone has warned that a change of management is likely to galvanise the visitors.

"Sheffield Wednesday got rid of Dave Jones and won 2-1 in midweek, which shows how a change can pick a team up," Malone said.

"People who weren't in the team are now thinking they can impress the new manager. It will be a tough one. They played on Wednesday so we've had an extra day's rest."

What coaching manual did you get that from you f"""""" muppet, my grandson even knows that, if he is saying this to NAD then he must think we are all mugs or he has had a breakdown because any one who was in control of his senses would not makse a statement like this.

What about your own errors every week cut them out and we would be okay by now.

@Bradders: Bradders, my world is ok thanks but gets a bit mucked up on match days at the moment, but I still pay the money and go, but I can see that I may have to curtail my views if they upset you.

But then again I may not as I have my own opinion even if you may not agree with, but we both want the Wall to do well and I would also like them to play well and show passion. I hope thats not ofending you too much.

@Bradders: why oh why does it offend so many posters when negative comments are made.

This is a forum for all millwall supporters.

I seriously didn't realise that Millwall had so many communists amongst their ranks.

Perhaps we should change our home kit to red.

@bonnie1272: Comrade Bonnie, actual extremes cannot be mediated with each other precisely because they are actual extremes. But neither are they in need of mediation, because they are opposed in essence. (-:~

If Malone is right and a change of a Manager can galvanise a team..........there's our answer in a nutshell.

Agree Scott perhaps we should our manager so that we start winning. Lomarse has been banging on all season about soft defensive mistakes and we're almost halfway through the season and its still an issue.

Whats changed from last season where our defence saved us? We have an incompetent manager who sees the problems and tries to resolve them by constant chopping and changing bringing in loan players who are not bothered about the club to replace loyal players who give their all.

Lomarse talks a good need but never executes it.

    Time for a change

@wappinglion: Whenever a new manager is appointed the players have to show their worth otherwise they are shown the door, simple one really!!

I wouldn't change Lomas! We play good attacking football, always creating chances in every game and look like scoring... which wasn't the case with Jackett!! The issue is we have no leader at the back anymore, Robbo isn't commanding the defence like he used to and isn't attacking the defensive headers (free-kicks and corners) like he did in the past and that is the same for Shittu as well.

@Bradders: your first paragraph is bang on.

So why did SL go straight out and get soooo many players without even looking at what he had.

Sorry Bradders but this guy has made so many mistakes, I for one have lost all confidence in him.

And I don't care if that is a negative opinion.

"We play good attacking football, always creating chances in every game and look like scoring"

We have been watching different games. Our standard of football has been appalling, most of the games have been dire, we managed three shots at Leicester and the sole quality move of the Barnsley match was the one which led to a corner just before they very kindly scored for us.

As for the ever-improving performances and entertaining football Forde was blathering about in the programme on Tuesday - well he plainly has not the foggiest what is going on more than 20 yards out, which may explain quite a bit actually.

Having said which we were a bit better today! Still fairly dodgy in the second half and lucky to get all three points but better. And that's something!

I find it strange too a manager gets sacked and the team play better, Lomarse could have something there.

@block 28: Can't argue with that block 28, just wish all of us are supporting the club we love and players even when they make a mistake, because we are absolutely a 12th man when they know we are behind them!!
