Millwall manager beaten by the clock as loan window closes

MILLWALL were beaten by the clock on the final day of the loan window as boss Steve Lomas ran out of time to complete any deals.

The Lions had been hoping to bring in one new signing and move one player out, with Shane Lowry the likeliest to depart amid firm interest from Bolton.

However, Lomas confirmed shortly before the 5pm deadline for temporary transfers that there would now be no comings or goings at The Den until January.

Lowry's departure would have been dependent on Lomas adding to his squad.

Bolton manager Dougie Freedman hinted at his interest in the left back earlier in the day when he revealed: "I am in contact with one manager. We are trying to get one more player in, but they are also trying to do something their end."

Lomas had been working through a shortlist of midfield targets but found that many clubs were reluctant to let their players leave at the eleventh hour.

@jim1222: He DOES earn more money than me, he PROBABLY knows more about football than me, he is more successful than me in his field but not in advertising where I am a managing director at the largest advertising agency in Europe, and with his obsession with Midfielders and just 4 wins from 16 with -12 GD I am not convinced who wins the stupid badge between us.

Now you get back your laptop in your underpants to play Warcraft whilst your mum makes you tea and feeds you up on marmite sandwiches until you are due your bed pan at 1pm you muggy little wankstain.

I wish my mum could make tea but as im 70 years of age alas it cannot be so.[she passed away some years ago]
you say in your post lomas does earn more than you,but surely if you really are the managing director of one of the biggest advertising agencies in europe i would have
thought your salary would be higher than his,or are you that stupid you are being underpaid.
Oh one more thing as a big successful business man {i will take your word for that]you must know its not where you start its where you finish, and i will have a 100 pound bet with you[to be donated to charity]that we finish a lot higher in the league than we did last year with or without lomas.
PS what is war craft and w*** stain as you seem knowledgable in these matter,s you can enlighten me because you are ignorant in football matter,s.

@jim1222: And as for you thinking that I would earn more than a Championship Football Manager in any role within advertising.... That shows what a deluded little wind up merchant you are. Name me 5 profession that any member on this site could possibly do within reason that would achieve a better wage than Lomas? Call off the search for Wally, I have found him! Well he surrendered himself.

No players going out - apart from Waghorn, mid December. So we will be a weaker squad in a couple of weeks and our first choice full back from last season now knows that he's not wanted. Sorry, but hard to see any positives there.

Think lomas may not even realise how lucky he is that he couldn't complete the deals as getting shot of our best left back could have lost him his job in the long run I really hope Lowry stays put but rather doubtful when even the players want the manager gone, lets see if he can sort this shambles out hope he does, just to add insult to injury a key player is apparently injured but no one knows who as yet...

What gets me is that he was looking at bringing in yet another midfielder it seems to that his answer to the problem is just keep chucking more midfielders at it how bout getting a decent centre half or a young hungry striker/winger!

@mfcmike: Mike you are right people are entitled to their opinions as am i,but as far as lomas is concerned it is wrong the way people keep attacking him and in doing so undermine the confidence of the fans and players at millwall,so as long as JB deems it right to keep lomas as manager i will support JB,lomas and the club.As for the critics of lomas they are right to say what they think, all i ask they are positive and give sensible views ti what he should be doing, not calling him a ginger c***,west ham s***,or we should get players in who we are just unable to afford those posters do millwall no good what so ever,so i will go on supporting lomas in a positive manner until the man who is under writing the club JB says different, when and if JB shows lomas the door,i will support the new manager in the same way as i support lomas even if i like them or not, thats what i call supporting my club as i have done since 1950 when i was 6 years old,
this post is directed at you ,digger downunder and jonnybanks.
SO i suggest you three support millwall continue supporting millwall in your negative way and and i will support in what i see as a positive manner, after all its not just paying at the gate that supports a club, morally supporting is just as important.
so please tell lomas he is wrong if you think he is thats your right but please tell him in a sensible way what he should be doing.Leaving the nonsense suggestions and abuse of the man out.
THATS WHAT I CALL SUPPORTING MILLWALL.

@jim1222: clearly in your old age you are suffering some dementia.

You want everyone to agree with you and your positive stance.

I have stated that I think lomas (a god to you) is ineffective and explained in many many ways.

However, you don't share the same view and you turn things all personal on those that express their own opinions.

You want everyone to pussyfoot around the Millwall team and staff. Well I don't. If I don't feel players, manager. Coaches etc are doing what they are paid very good money to do I will post my opinion as is my entitlement.

You abuse people who may or may not be as intellectual as you think you are.

At the age of 70 you should know better.

Who the f*** do you get to switch your laptop on?

their post as you and many others. As for making things personal alas thats the way i am.i was brought up to face up to a problem, solve it then move on,not to s*** people off for the sake of it
as for the dementia bit my knowledge of millwall is pretty good a lot better than some on this, site.
At the end of the day millwall is my club, and i dont want people doing it down for the sake of it.

@jim1222: in essence nothing. Bit you know the demographic of millwall, I need not explain that.

However, the majority will have an opinion and they have every right to voice theirs whether or not it is in agreement with the minority should be irrespective.

If some want to throw names about, then they are as entitled as anyone else. Unfortunately many posters, myself included can sometimes get ahead themselves, and this is in no way critical of anyone on this site.

But if they want to band names around they have the right whether you like it or not.

Not everyone can be constructive with their criticism and unfortunately you will have to accept it.

I personally enjoy reading all of the comments on here and some I agree with, some I dispute and some I just plain ignore.

That could be a starting point!

Gutted we didn't manage to nick another player in and let Lowry get some game time elsewhere really, but i think the squad has enough quality and depth to see us through to January if Lomas still wants to add to the squad in that transfer window.

I for one am glad that Lomas wasn't panicked into picking up other clubs deadbeats just because it was the last day of the loan window. Far better that he stabilises for now and concentrates on setting up some worthwhile strategic deals (both in and out) when the January transfer window opens in about 6 weeks.

It's about this time of the year Millwall spark into life. Hopefully, it starts at Leicester! A nice run would warm the cockles of the fans, and get the pressure off Lomas's back. I for one, like him. Jackett head was not on it in the last ten games last year, and now we all know why. Lomas is honest, and withstood immense pressure during September.

@jim1222 Lets put this to bed now. We both love millwall and want our club to do well. But i find your blind faith in lomas puzzling .The stats say played 16 won 4 goal difference - 12 . loan players spending more time in the treatment room than on the pitch. A manager who after 16 games dont know his best 11 . WE had 14 thousand for the yeovil game and 8 and a half thousand for barnsley. THAT TELLS YOU HOW GREAT MR LOMAS IS DOING.

I hope he is correct as it is not in my best interest to see Lomas fail! What intrigues me is will we see posts from the oracle that is Jim if Lomas fails to achieve this or is worse sacked? Pathetic from a man who should have more class.

Its fine to disagree with anything or anybody, just lay off making it vindictive and personal.
