Bolton eye deadline-day swoop for Millwall left back Lowry

BOLTON have approached Millwall about a loan deal for Shane Lowry.

And the Lions could sanction the move ahead of the 5pm deadline for temporary transfers if they can land one of their own targets.

Manager Steve Lomas, who has confirmed he wants to strengthen is squad, is believed to be chasing a central levitra midfielder.

Lowry has lost his place in the Millwall side to Scott Malone this season and was absent from the squad for the win over Barnsley last weekend.

The 24-year-old's contract at The Den expires next summer.

We clearly ain't being told something here.. Thinking injuries in the middle must be worse then what is being said.

Oh god, soon we're gonna end up playing like west ham 4-5-1 and struggle. I hope Lowry doesn't get loaned out/ bought unless we have a suitable replacement and by suitable I mean not another old minstrel who takes ten games to get match fit!!

This is a good move by Lomas and again we are the club with the bargaining power!!

Lowry has been pretty poor this season and if Malone gets injured no doubt Lowry will be on a 24hour recall notice, if it helps us to strengthen what's the problem?

Chaplow has had injury after injury this season, Abdou isn't that great compared to Moussi, Trotter has been in and out the team (must be the moustache causing injury), Lee Martin has been injured a lot, so another creative midfielder could be a good thing.... especially one who can play that No.10 role behind Scott MacDonald

I'm sure everyone only ever see's doom and gloom at Millwall!!

@cabbypetemfc: Lowry has struggled to complete 90 mins all season, he's a liability and even when he has stayed on the pitch he has looked half the player of Malone - provided we're covered at LB (Hoyte can play there) then fine let him go - the wage would be better spent elsewhere!!

@millwallphil: I would also add that Malone really needs to improve his defensive play as well recently his attacking performances have masked some poor positioning and decision making . I would not want him to be our only LB option at the club because he will eventually be found out and will need to adapt quickly or be dropped.

Not sure we need another CM maybe a decent cover for Malone or call up a youngster to cover. Would like to see Lowry switch to the Centre back role he would be a better player there.

The headline says left back Lowry but he is really a CB.
I dont mind us loaning him as long as we have a quick recall option if needed.
I think he wants a central midfielder because he knows Trotter may be leaving in January for some kind of fee rather than in the summer for nothing. I sincerely hope that I am wrong but I am preparing myself for the worst. As I have stated many times I would be gutted if we lost him.

        @Obrien91:
I would hope that at the very least the board would make him a very good offer to stay. I know it might not match what he may get elsewhere but it would at least show him how much we value him. I dont think Lomas is going anywhere anytime soon. He has been backed big time by the board and I personally do think he should be given more time. I would settle for 4th from bottom right now and then see what he's really made of next season with mostly his own team.

@wall2wall: Yeah just show some intent to try and keep our best players as trotter on his day can win games on his own. I still think Lomas is figuring things out and when it all clicks we will have a good season, however this could be a season of 2 halves as we have seen so many start bad in the first half of the season and have a brilliant second half and finish either in the play offs or near them. I am a Millwall supporter and i will support the team and whoever is in charge of it.

Before SL took over as Manager players like Forde, Lowry, Henry, Trotter and Keogh were not considered part of our deadwood. Yet there is now a possibility that by the Summer they could all be gone! With all the loan signings departed as well unless we sign quality replacements we could end up with the 2014/15 season being as disruptive as this one with players getting match fit and used to each other. Also get the impression that SL is trying to shift out all the squad he inherited from KJ irrespective of whether they were considered deadwood or not.

@denslions: if these players were not considered dead wood why were they not on good contracts before jacket ran out,and lomas arrived.what were jacket and co doing or as far as these contracts are concerned not doing.
no blame can be laid at lomas's door for this.

@jim1222: perhaps it's because we didn't have the money to put them on "good contracts".

For a club that averages 9k per gate - what would you consider a good wage?

I would say that 10k per week is pretty kin good.

Now look round our squad and tell me how many players are on that sort of wage?

        Trotter?
        Macdonald?
        Morison?
        Waghorn?

        And a few more besides.

Wouldn't it be nice if they earnt it.

AND I DONT MEAN THE DOG (I haven't a clue what you mean).

Not sure anyone is trying to look "WELLHARD" by putting facts on the net, like the Championship table....

I'm sure if you go to Wall most weeks you will see the difference in football we play from this season and last, the amount of chances we are creating each week... so goals aren't going to be an issue and nor is Lomas!!

We play 1 up front we a typical creative player behind who can get goals like Trotter so we will be ok!!

I believe we are in a better place now (I don't mean league position) than we have been in a long while, with the way we are playing football which will win us more games than we lose or come back to draw from losing positions.... as you have seen!

Losing Lowry is not such an issue for me, but we do not have cover at Left Back if he goes. I was hoping the new signing would be another full back to replace him.

@Peckhamlad: Millwall aren't in a position to offer players 20k a week whereas if he joins a Fulham or Norwich then they can offer that with ease and he will be gone!!

I'd prefer to sell him in January, if he intention is to leave or give him a new contract within our budget if he wants to stay!

The club will live on without him!!

In my opinion Trotter has to stay, if we want to have any real ambition of pushing up the table! Saw on saturday against Barnsley how much we missed his creativity!
Lowry (At left back) is now just back up Malone! So if he's going to stay and wants to be playing, i think he needs to have a word with Lomas and the coaching staff and tell them he wants a chance at center back! Should an injury occur for Robbo or Beevers, i'd sooner give Lowry that chance, then have Shittu as our only back up.

Problem on this site is there are too many knee jerk reactions to a bad game. It was Trotter out now in, Feeney in, out, in, out, Shittu, God, to get him out he is s****, Lowry, in, out, Morison, in,in, now out, out, make your minds up. The other one was Woolford, he was s***, then played a few good games, and he was the ebst thing we had, now he is off the boil, he's now pony. All players have good and bad times, so get over it and support whoever puts the shirt on. By the way, I have never changed my opinion of Dunne, he is S***.

I've always been pro the new manager and know that he needs time, but the bare facts are depressing, players like Morrison, keogh and Lowry completely underperforming surely they would have been automatic selections for most of us? Performances are showing little or no improvement, attendances poor and tactics appear to be written on a fag packet week to week , most people would agree that on paper this is the best squad we've had for ages but the fact is that it's just not happening and it's showing no signs of consistency , who knows how we move on ? It's clear that something has to give because we look like a bottom six team struggling with the rest of the division's dross .
