JOHN Marquis has joined League Two side Torquay United on loan until January.

Marquis last week returned to Millwall following a two-month stint with Portsmouth but has jumped at the chance to play first-team football again.

The Gulls are battling against relegation from the Football League and are second-bottom in the table after a 2-1 defeat by Accrington at the weekend.

21-year-old Marquis, whose contract with the Lions expires next summer, scored two goals in six appearances during his time at Pompey.

He has been brought in by Torquay to replace injured West Ham loanee Paul McCallum.

Live in Torquay before (was a steward at TUFC for a bit too) and my daughters there so I have a soft spot for them but in all honesty they arent a club you want to go to at the moment - they're terrible!! Best of luck John you'll need it!!

@TheBermondseyBomber: ON the other hand, BB, this might be a good place for him to go - if he plays to his best ability he might make a difference to them and it will boost his confidence. I think we will try to offload him permanently in January and there are worst places to end up than south Devon. He'll not make the grade at Championship level so that's a good solution all round.

@junkmale: he's not gonna score much with the limited service he'll get from their shoddy midfield mate

    Leaning towards junkmale here,
Could be a great move for him and he seems eager to go and prove himself. Good luck john and as junkmale has said i can think of worse places to live.

The only thing jm hasn't got is composure on the ball but that will come with game time so I hope he does well in Devon then we will finally no if he's good enough at championship level. Good luck
