Beevers returns as Millwall win behind-closed-doors friendly

MARK Beevers played 63 minutes as Millwall beat Gillingham 7-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at The Den on Tuesday afternoon.

Beevers was making his return from a knee injury sustained against Charlton in September.

Manager Steve Lomas revealed last week that the centre back would be in contention for the Lions' trip to Bolton on Saturday after he returned to training last week.

Steve Morison scored a hat-trick, Jermaine Easter bagged a brace and Lee Martin got himself on the scoresheet as Millwall hammered their League One opponents.

Meanwhile, the loan signing of Middlesbrough's Justin Hoyte has now been confirmed.

Don't think Lomas will risk him on Saturday, more likely to be on the bench.
      Great news all round though.

@NICKOLA: Yeah, I agree. I actually think he may not even go unless it's to gee Shittu up.

Good to see that Beevers is making good progress ...... Cant afford him getting injured again, if his return is too premature ...... another few games of a less competative nature would be better than straight into the team for saturday. Slowly does it!!!

Good news all round. Really hope that Martin can start staying injury free as he is a good prospect for me and I would like to see him get a few games. I think Beevers will travel but only as sub. Morison surely has to come good soon ( fingers crossed ) and Jermaine looking like a good option from the bench. Time to start turning draws into wins and if we can we will soon shoot up the table. Feeling very positive right now. Onwards and upwards.

ON PAPER MILLWALL LOOKING STRONG .. ONLY TIME WILL BRING THIS TEAM TOGETHER, NOW WITH THE SIGNING OF HOYTE I THINK WE HAVE COVERED ALL POSTS IN TERMS OF WEAKNESSES NOW ALL LOMAS NEEDS TO DO IS BRING A GREAT TEAM MORAL TO THIS DRESSING ROOM AN A UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT SHOULD FILL LIKE TO PUT ON THE MILLWALL SHIRT.. STRIPP ALL THE TEAM BACK AND SHOW THEM VIDOES OF THE LATE 80S AND EARLY 90S WHEN MILLWALL WAS ONE OF THE MOST FEARDEDD TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY TO PLAY AND IM SURE WITH THAT MENTALITY WE WOULD SEE A BIG CHANGE IN TERMS OF RESULTSS......... COYLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Still want to see a new player to partner Beevers. Once Malone is fit and Hoyte has settled in we'll have a tight defence which will give everyone some confidence.

Of those I'd personally like to see go, Osborne, Henry and Marquis are half-way out. The remainder ie : Wright and Feeney will be gone soon enough. What happens to Dunne and Smith is anyone's guess though one will have to go. I do think that we should keep Keogh as he hasn't suddenly become a bad player, and when the injuries and suspensions kick in he'll be an asset.

Great to see Justin Hoyte signing hope he plays Saturday and beef up the defence. Good news all round. I would rather see Easter play irather than Morison, he is more hungry for a team place and works harder.

@Peckhamlad: It was good to hear that they both got amongst the goals against Gillingham, but how competitive that was we don't know.

@Peckhamlad: Presumably, Feeney will play on Saturday, if he does, will he put in a good shift to impress his potential new boss?

Can't see Feeney starting. Abdou for Derry and Lowry for Malone. Otherwise, same as the Burnley game.

@NICKOLA: If Lee Martin is fully fit, I say start him. He's had a bitty season so far with injury so he'll want to prove a point. He has played well too when he's been on the field. Nice to see someone who can take players on successfully! Feeney just kept running into people at the weekend and his delivery from yhe byline was poor!

wouldn't mind seeing woolford sitting in at left back instead of lowry proved he can tackle and head the ball and with martin in front of him gives a good strong attacking left side

@davep263: not a bad idea dave but i think kj playing woolford defensively got the worst out of him and we all know how bad he was so i cant see sl putting him there as it would knock the cinfidence out of him.

I hope SL is not tempted to play Beevers at left back when Lowry gets sent off again. His best position is Centre back and when fully fit , he should play alongside Robbo in my opinion.

So 'lazy', 'not interested', 'just here for the money' Morison bangs in a hat-trick being 'lazy', 'not interested' and 'just here for the money' in a reserve match. Something doesn't add up. Hopefully a sign of things to come for the rest of the season.
