Scans reveal Malone will be sidelined for weeks not months

SCOTT Malone will be sidelined for "weeks rather than months" after scans on his injured knee revealed the left back has not suffered serious damage.

Malone has undergone tests on both his knee and ankle since being forced off in the 7th minute against Burnley on Saturday and the results are not as bad as first feared.

Physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official site: "Initial scan results on Scott have indicated that he has suffered no knee ligament or cartilage damage.

"Due to the early stage of the injury it would be premature to give a predicted return to play, especially as we also want to double check the ankle as well. We are, however, pleased with the results so far."

Malone tweeted: "Delighted with the results today! Early days but it appears I have got off lightly! No timescale as yet."

NewsAtDen has been told the 22-year-old should return within four weeks.

That's a relief. Look forward to having him back sooner rather than later.

@Sealion: That remark was aimed at us losing him for weeks, I did not mean that I wanted him out for longer, good luck Scotty we will sorely miss you.

@potty1: Just Wikipedia him. At Bristol City. If B.S can afford his wage why didnt we snap him up earlier.
