Reported Millwall target Dixon poised to quit Dundee United

DUNDEE United left-back Paul Dixon, linked with a move to Millwall in January, has confirmed he will be swapping Scotland for England this summer.

NewsAtDen understands the 25-year-old is eyeing a switch to the Championship when his contract at Tannadice expires, with both Bristol City and Derby County interested.

However, a source north of the border says Dixon is yet to receive any formal offers for his services. Millwall chief scout Jamie Johnson has made at least two trips to watch the former Scotland U21 international in action this season.

And Dixon has confirmed he is ready to turn his back on the possibility of Champions League football with United next season for a move to England.

"I've made my mind up, to be honest, that I'll be moving on at the end of the season," he told the Daily Record.

"I've had four great seasons here so I'll leave with a heavy heart. But I feel it's time for me to move on and get a new challenge elsewhere.

"I'd like to go to England but obviously that depends on having offers. I just concentrate on playing my game – not paying attention to who might be watching – and hopefully my agent is doing his job."

A left-back is high up on boss Kenny Jackett's summer shopping list – but Stevenage's Scott Laird now looks unlikely to move to The Den.

NewsAtDen has learned Laird, who will become a free agent this summer, has signed a pre-contract agreement with another club.
