MILLWALL will complete the permanent signing of Leeds United keeper Maik Taylor on July 1.

Taylor, who kept six clean sheets in 10 appearances for the Lions during a loan spell last season, has verbally agreed a one-year contract at The Den.

The 40-year-old will be released by the Whites once his short-term deal at Elland Road expires at the end of June, paving the way for him to move to SE16 on a free transfer.

Taylor becomes the second Millwall player to agree terms on a new deal in the space of a week, after it was announced midfielder Josh Wright will sign a three-year extension tomorrow evening.

Taylor had previously expressed his desire to extend his stay with the Lions beyond the end of the season.

"If staying is an option for me, then I will speak with the manager and see what is open for me," he told the Daily Star earlier this month.

"I'm just grateful for the opportunity and if it goes beyond the season, then it's fantastic.

"I thought I was coming in to put some pressure on the other keeper and the manager has given me an opportunity. Things have gone well, so hopefully that will continue."
