Millwall winger poised to join Championship rivals Bolton

WINGER Liam Feeney is set to join Bolton on a three-month loan deal.

The 26-year-old, who has made four appearances for the Lions this campaign, is expected to seal a surprise move to the Reebok Stadium before the weekend.

Boss Steve Lomas will be able to recall Feeney after 28 days.

The ex-Bournemouth midfielder has struggled to nail down a regular starting place since his £200,000-move to The Den in 2011 and will now link up with Dougie Freedman's strugglers, who are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

great news for the lad, we will get him back a better player or get good money for him, it's a win win situation for all parties concerned.

@terry the turk lion: Certainly a great move for Feeney and Millwall to get some wages of our books, but what happens if Bolton start picking up a few wins and go ahead of us in the table, would it then be a silly move to allow a decent enough player to join a rival in the league?? Only time will tell

Good luck to Liam, hope he gets more games and comes back even stronger, he is underestimated in my opinion. He gives width to the team is fast and can cross the ball. It is better him playing that sitting on the sidelines.

@lion.ie: Well Lion.ie. they are in a worse position than us at the moment, even though he is a squad player he is in a squad that is just begining to jel and lets not forget this loan also helps SL's finance's for any player he may wish to bring to the club.

So on both counts as others have said its good for Millwall and Liam if Bolton use him in the first team, but we still need to trim the squad and wage bill further.

Good move for the lad, hope he does well there...either way we free up some wages which is important.

Why is everyone saying good luck to Feeney, he shouldn't be going as he is a valuable member of our squad, and shouldn't be allowed to leave!

Watched him against Forest and thought he was a bit of a headless chicken. Yes he is quick but there is no end product, plus he made Jack Smiths job twice as difficult as he was never in the right place to offer any support and left Smith very exposed.Woolford, Martin , Henry and Chaplow all ahead of him I would have thought.

That's pretty much how I feel about him too. I also dont think he is a Millwall type. I have never got the feeling he cares too much for us, I would not be bothered if he left for good. Anywhere near that half a million which we wasted on him would be welcome.

Bit strange to be loaning a player to a fellow relegation struggler?

Bolton paying the price for the obscene wages they've been shelling out on not very good players. Think about it. Sordell (not great I know but in the England set up) on loan to Charlton (????) and now they take Feeney from us who's not as good as Sordell. All about money (or lack of it) far as I'm concerned and Bolton are in the s*** for which I cannot say I'm sorry even the tiniest little bit. A once proud old football club who now have an ego as big as Lancashire with a tosspot manager, board of directors and post Premier league happy clappy fans who all match each other in cuntishness. Their bloke Gartside (if he's still there) is an up his own a*** of the highest order and football would be better off without his ilk

@Old_Les: I agree with you Les.... I think we will end up seeing more of the "bigger" teams having to move some of their players on who are on big bucks because of the FFP and sign lesser quality as they just cannot afford it anymore.

I can see Blackburn, M'boro, Leicester, Ipswich and Notts Forrest all having problems just like Bolton!

@Bradders: Don't be fooled by the FFP, it's a bit of a smoke screen. All you'll see is the richer clubs signing players on longer contracts to spread the cost for accounting purposes. Some of these 'big' clubs have just been badly run, that's all.

        Poor ol' Dougie..

Had a few good games when he first came here since then he has been very poor..... Nervier beats the fullback a really frustrating player, has a decent finish in front of goal. Not bothered by this at all. Like Les says it says more about Bolton than us. If this is the extent of their ambition then they are off to to league one. No one has a right to stay in this league, and they need to wipe the stardust out of their eyes.

Good luck son, don't hurry back.

If Bolton think Feeney can save them then Freedman is barking. I think I have seen him have one decent game, and as others have said his final ball is cack. He is a poor mans Lennon (very poor) and we will be better off with him gone. I think SL has it right about Henry and Feeney, and with Marquis going out on loan as well, this must free up some money for some Premiership loanees over the next couple of weeks. Still think we are a FB short and some real pace up front.
