Preview: Brighton vs. Millwall

DAVID Forde, Liam Trotter and Jermaine Easter have been included in Millwall's squad for their match against Brighton on Saturday.

The Lions will make a late decision on whether to include the trio in their matchday 18 after they were passed fit to travel to the south coast.

Boss Steve Lomas had suggested Trotter and Forde would not be ready to feature until after the international break in September, but they have been in full training for over a week.

Easter is fit after a hamstring niggle.

Steve Morison (hernia) is running again after surgery but will miss out.

Shane Lowry and Danny Shittu return to the fold, having been left out of the midweek Capital One Cup defeat against Nottingham Forest, whilst Shaun Derry is eligible again.

Martyn Woolford could make his first league appearance of the season after impressing at the City Ground. Left-back Scott Malone has suggested on Twitter that he is not involved.

Brighton are without strikers Craig Mackail-Smith and Will Hoskins, whilst Ashley Barnes faces a late fitness test.

Bruno, Andrea Orlandi and Liam Bridcutt are out.

Glad to see these three back from injury - hope Forde is fully fit, sharp, ready to play and does. Would be smashing to have Trotter and Easter back for the bench for a good option off it - two players that could (big if though) turn a game in our favour. But I suspect we may see more of the tactical genius of Steve Lomas and his new age super sports psychology when none of them make the squad but their presence is good for team bonding and experience. They'll all be paint balling in the Forest of Dean on the way home.

@Old_Les: gotta say that I hope Trotter only gets a short spell on the pitch. Having had cartilage surgery I know these ops leave the knee susceptible to re injury. Better just build him up slowly.

Will be great to have Easter back too, more attacking options up front. I suspect Trotter will get a run out of occassion demands.

Having seen recent performances, I think that Bywater isn't a patch on our Fordy. The sooner he's back the better. IMO it's not that our defence has deteriorated - it's the performance of Bywater that let's us down. And on a different matter, why do the press keep saying SL is still looking for the first win of the season - doesn't our glorious slaughter of AFC Wimbledon in the Capital Cup count for anything?

If Millwall can get their act together, have some luck and a decent referee I think we can get a result at Brighton. Let's be positive

Very soon now, all our players are going to be fit, some of the players ( Wright, DNG, Marquis ) for example will be gone and Lomas will finally have to decide what his best eleven is, and decide if he's going to play them in the correct position or not.
A balanced Millwall team, passing the ball along the ground should be more than capable of picking up points tomorrow.
Whether that team will be of the same structure as anyone else's idea of the best Millwall eleven on here, we'll see soon enough.

Brighton's ego is as big as their new stadium. They're nothing to be scared of. If we don't get caught by their foreigners diving everywhere , we'll get at least a point. COYL !

I feel we are blaming everyone else for the failure of this current team, I blame the overall managment for the failures thus far this year, No out and out want for success from the board, basic business factor is to speculate, Where is the board sending us without investment, investment draws bigger and better results which in turn bring in more money through the gates, this equates to successful achievement
All this current team are going to achieve this year is religation because of the deadwood carrying board
Changes please, inspiration next, is all I craive for

A lot of hype and expectancy for tomorrow on here. Personally, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong, tomorrow will bring with it more disappointment. Not sure what has happened at the Den but the last few matches and I include last season in this, just don't seem like Millwall. There doesn't seem to be any ideas and guts. We've got players who can get the ball down and drive on but don't seem to want to. Let's get to the line tomorrow take players on and make it happen. If it doesn't I fear the next home game will be the usual 8, 000 and Lomas out will start to ring out. COYL. Cheer me up after a dismal week and make me smile again. Miiiiiiiii

Lets not rush them back as international break is just around the corner. Would be typical for 1 or all 3 to pull up and be out for another month.

At most stick them on the bench to come on and nick us that winning goal for our first win of the season 🙂

4-2-3-1 is my favourite position with two holding - Derry and bailey with Martin keogh ( free role ) and chaplow.
Good to see the three players back training but that's all it is maybe forde out of the three.
A little birdy tells me that unless we get footballing fullbacks things will take a while to gel as new age football is played in three stages. We don't have a footballing back four good enough for the champship so stage one ( defence ) is bypassed with a punt up top to striker on the hope that their center half heads back to our midfield - stage two -
Now given this much thought it makes absolute sense as watching what I have we only seem to play football from midfield up, the defence have not a footballing brain between them and yes I include Robbo although I think he's our best defender he's never been a great passer of the ball.
The same birdy also tells me that SL is determined to get it right but the old players he has inherited are not technical enough for the division - we all know that. When fit our midfield and strikers will be enough to see us through but we'll strugle to offload the players we need to in order to get the full backs we need.
We took too long on Frazier Richardson so he opted for boro although he wanted to join and we needed to free up wages in order to get in shorey - he was not the best defender but technically much better than we already have - lets hope we can out the players we need to and bring in a couple on l

Would love to see Marquis given a chance, lets see him closer to home with some suspect injuries to squad players that could take time to heal rather then send on loan and send right back into the reserves when eventually returned to the squad.... Really reminds me of Richard Sadlier, so would like to see some progress instead of just writing off....

BBC Football: "Steve Lomas...one of four new managers in the Championship at the start of the season, has already fielded more players in the division than any other (21)"
I think this is the problem...Lomas has no idea about who his best eleven are. Not sure he's even any closer to knowing...

According to Daily Mirror SL is on borrowed time, if results do not pick up he will be replaced by Neil Harris...but as ever always take everything written in newspapers with a large pinch of salt.

Not a bad team in my opinion. The better goalkeeper returns, two wingers, Chaplow presumably centre mid. Only mystery to me is Shittu and not Robinson and assuming it's 451 looks more balanced. Let's see.

Every game we have played has seen a different team selection and formation. What have Malone and Feeney got to do to even be included on the subs bench? Okay, Woolford had a good game against Forest reserves but what the hell is he doing in the team? Lomas is clutching at straws because he hasn't got a clue. We all know that Chaplow's best position is central midfield but has he ever played there with Baliey? With Trotter fit after the International Break send Derry back to QPR because even if he persists in playing Chaplow out wide he will have Bailey and Trotter to play central midfield or will he play one of them on the other wing so he can keep Derry on the already inflated wage bill? GO BACK TO SCOTLAND LOMAS AND TAKE YOUR SCATTER BRAINED IDEAS WITH YOU!!!!! After this rant we'll probably win!!!!!

1-1 against a better side so am pleased with that, 10 men defended well. for 30 min and unlucky not to come away with 3 points. Brighton had 65% of possession as well.
    Slowly things are improving.

    Well done you lads.
