LEYTON Orient have enquired about loaning Millwall striker John Marquis.

Lions manager Steve Lomas wants the 21-year-old to play regular football and will sanction a temporary move as soon as a viable option is on the table.

Orient, who are the early pace setters in League One after four straight victories, made an approach for Marquis last week but have been told to up their wage offer.

Stevenage and Preston are also interested.

Makes sense, go get the necessary experience, score a few in a decent league one team and come back to us a more confident player. Well that's the theory, be great to have a home grown striker to be proud of...

Orient are flying so might do his confidence good. If he bangs in a load partnering Lisbie then it might be worth having him back. Otherwise it might be best to permanently offload him. COYL

@WestKentLion: With Morrison out and our forward line vertically challenged I wonder if Marquis could do a job short term. His football may not be championship standard but he has the height and can make a nuisense of himself and could be the target man for McD and Co to feed off of. Just a thought.

@Sealion: That's a good point, JM always give 100% from what i've seen and is a constant pressure player which i like, he chases lost causes etc. Deffo and idea.

I have two questions about this proposed loan, 1 how will he get in a team that are already have a 100% record in there division as they player that they sign from us Shaun Batt cant get in the starting 11 and Batt was further up the pecking orfder at Millwall.

2 How much are we paying a squad player that the O's are not prepaired to pay a part of this as it seems too much for them to pay a percentage, if this is true then this mens that all our fringe players who SL wants to move on wont be in a hurry because they will need to take a big pay cut.
