Exclusive: Millwall in talks to prise Lynch away from Forest

MILLWALL are in talks to sign Nottingham Forest defender, and long-term transfer target, Joel Lynch.

Lynch is out of contract at the end of the season and has been offered a new three-year deal at the City Ground.

The Lions made an enquiry for the 24-year-old this time last year, but Forest snubbed their approach and insisted they would not welcome a bid.

However, Lynch is now free to talk to other clubs and NewsAtDen understands his representatives have held discussions with Millwall about a move.

Forest are keen to keep hold of the centre-half, who can also play as a left-back, and have made him an offer to stay to stay at the Midlands club.

But Forest face an uncertain financial future following the death of chairman Nigel Doughty this year and are said to be operating on 'limited resources'.

Lynch, a product of Brighton's youth academy, joined the Reds from the Seagulls in 2009 for a fee of £200,000 following a successful loan spell.
