Millwall centre-back Goodman joins Aldershot Town on loan

YOUNG Millwall defender Jake Goodman has joined Conference outfit Aldershot Town on a youth loan until January.

The Shots were interested in signing Goodman last season before he moved to Luton Town, where he made 11 appearances during a two-month spell.

Manager Steve Lomas has previously spoken of his desire for the club's youngsters to go out and experience first-team football, saying: "When I look at young kids who are 20 or 21 and they don't have a league game under their belt, I just don't think we're doing them any favours. They get to a certain level and they've got to stand on their own two feet.

"Maybe we're a bit guilty of over-protecting kids now; there comes a point where they have to sink or swim. Clubs are always crying about there not being enough good, young talent – but we're not getting them out enough. I'm talking about getting them out to a level where they can thrive."

Makes total sense from SL to send these kids out, Marquis would really benefit from regular 1st team football out on loan.

Roll on 3pm Saturday, cant wait..!!!!!!!!!!!
100% behind all the players and Lomas.
    COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets hope he gets the run of games that will help his development and I also wish him well come back a better player young man, also whats the state of play with John Maquis going out on loan as mentioned a few days back. All these loans and maybe transferes will also help JB's balance sheet and maybe he can remove his veiled threat to the Millwall faithful.

Get John Marquis down to Dartford. They are in need of another striker and if Marquis is anything like a goalscorer he will find the net in the Skrill Premier.

The only thing that worries me slightly is that Goodman only signed a one year deal, so if he spends the season out on loan he wont be our player come the summer!!
