Lomas: Bailey can be Millwall's midfield general this season

STEVE Lomas believes "all-action" midfielder Nicky Bailey will be a big hit with Millwall fans this season after joining the club on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Lions on Friday and Lomas is expecting big things from the former Middlesbrough man.

He said: "Nicky is a little bit behind in terms of fitness, but hopefully it won't take him long to get up to speed. He's a decent age, knows this level inside out and he's a winner. He will organise the midfield.

"I've spoken a lot about bringing in the right www.mindanews.com/buy-doxycycline/ type and Nicky is the right type for Millwall. I'm sure the fans here will appreciate his style of play – he's all-action and can get goals.

"You know what you're going to get from Nicky week in, week out because he's played 35-40 games a season for the past six years."

Lomas remains on the lookout for a new striker and says there is room in his budget for further additions. He added: "We would like to [sign a striker] – but if we go with what we've got at the minute, we will be happy enough."

Think we'll see some more of that soon. The contracted players at Millwall who don't now fancy their chances of being in the starting line-up will be on to their agents to try and get other clubs interested.

We may not be that happy without another striker!

So far we've talked the talk, now to walk the walk!

All the rhetoric has to bear fruit now!

Bailey and Lomas could be tag team wrestlers !!
What we needed, a bit of muscle and a scorer in midfield.
Now, to end the week on another high Aldo, please confirm that Harewood has buggered off.
    Beers at the ready.

    On a separate note;

I see that stoke city are providing coaches for all travelling fans to every away game this season.

Great idea. Spend some of the gargantuan premiershit money in the fans!

I was in stoke last year for a week. The catchment area is quite large and all the pubs in the outer areas actually run coaches from and to the pubs to the stadium. We've got supporters in Kent etc. who might benefit from such forward thinking.

Just seen that Painstil, Cook and Croft are no longer training with Millwall so they've gone. Unfortunately, Harewood is still there.

I hope all this positivity surrounding the new signings is rewarded with decent gates next season. I know it’s been tough supporting the lions down the years but were not going to be ambitious without the gates to match it. Let em all come…..

Don't think you could swap Harewood for a bag of turnips myself, although the resemblance around the waist is uncanny.

Oh ye of little faith!!!! I'd much rather SL takes his time and signs the right striker than rush into a deal when a better option could be lurking just round the corner.
Let's face it, after surviving by the skin of our teeth last season, if anyone had predicted we'd start the season with a new manager, Morisson up front, four other quality signings in the bag and the prospect of another striker to come, we'd have had them committed to the local loony bin.
All that and Bomber back in the fold as well. It's been one of the most remarkable summer's in Millwall's history and as long as we stay patient and give all those new players time to bed in I think we can look forward to challenging at the right end of the table.
PS. The local Middlesbrough paper say Tony Mowbray is desperate to get £30,000-a-week Scott McDonald off the wage bill so he can start strengthening his squad. Apparently Mowbray accepts Boro may have to go on paying a portion of McDonald's wages next season - a 60-40 split in our favour would be sweet!!!!
PPS. Bristol City are trying to sign some foreign striker - if they get him they may be prepared to let Davies go.
    PPS: COYL!!!!!!!!

I think they'd have to have an offer for Davies accepted before that happened. Fingers crossed.

Quality signing , we now have a championship midfield with a solid defence and with a striker to hopefully come in ,we may just have a cracking season . Lomas deserves a chance and our full backing ,he may turn out to be rubbish but at least he gave us a chance to stay up with the signings he has made .

I am sure that SL can work well with some of the players already at the club, he may turn N'Guessan into a consistent quality striker..who knows? He must be given time and space. Hopefully this season the fans will be more patient than before..its been one of the best close seasons since Docherty and George Graham were at the club and not before time. The fans deserve something to be optimistic about.
Tomorrow's game against Gillingham will be interesting.
