Released Boro midfielder pens two-year deal with Millwall

MILLWALL have signed free agent Nicky Bailey on a two-year contract following his release by Middlesbrough at the end of last season.

NewsAtDen first revealed last month that Bailey was on the Lions' radar before reporting yesterday that a deal between the two parties was edging closer.

And the 29-year-old has now put pen-to-paper on a deal keeping him at The Den until the summer of 2015. Bailey trained with his new teammates for the first time on Friday.

He told the club's official site: "I believe that with the new players coming in added to those who did well in the early part of last season, we can be a force in the Championship.

"I am looking forward to a new start at Millwall, and ideally scoring more goals from midfield than I had the opportunity to do at Boro. The fans at The Den are very passionate about their football, and I hope they will see in me a player who gives 100 percent to the cause every time a pull on the shirt."

Hazell was a lot later - and the week you are thinking of a lot better cos we signed up Keith Weller, Derek Possee, Denis Burnett and Bryan King who with Kitch, the under-estimated Alan Dorney and my personal favourite the ever-unpopular Eamonn Dunphy were the core of one of the best Millwall teams I've ever seen.

Stephen Bywater, Jermaine Easter, Lee Martin, Steve Morison, Richard Chaplow and now Nicky Bailey. Everyone of them is a improvement on the player currently in their position. (Bywater I am talking as a No,2 goalkeeper). Great work Lomas, Mr Berylson and the rest of the board. Without being greedy we still do need another striker but I am pretty confident that Lomas will have as least one sorted even if he has to wait until the end of August.

But it is all coming together nicely now and its not finished yet. Great times to be an MFC fan.

I used to hate Bailey when he played for the anoraks - especially when he scored against us but then again, I hate anything to do with those anorak wearing train spotters, so hopefully he will reciprocate when we play them.

With the good players remaining with Millwall (Trotter, Shittu,Forde etc) ant the strengthening in all departments by SL I firmly Millwall will no long be the pushover they were at the latter stages of last season. Please do not forget though that they reached the semi final lof the FA cup no mean achievement so this huge boost can give all the other clubs something to fear when they meet our team. Now for a striker!

yet you all missed one thing.
he looks a millwall type of player and im sure he will play like a millwall man up and at em and he wont hide when things are going wrong.
sl is doing a lot of things right so i hope the fickle millwall fans give him time to get the rest right.

Think you might be right about Shorey if he'll accept a one year deal. Richardson's just started training with us which is why he wasn't one of the ones to go today but he might be in the running too. I think their signings will depend on who we sign as the striker, transfer fee circa 450k for Davies might stop that happening, but if you're right about Waghorn then that makes them a possibility.

@NICKOLA: 450K Davies is a snip IMO and would probably cost the same as Waghorn, Davies ready made striker who would hit the ground running and take some heat off Moro & Keogh. But, i dont think that will have any baring if we sign or dont sign defensive cover.... Lomas is very attack minded and clearly see's our full backs as a position that needs strengthening or he wouldn't off invited trialist in those positions. Dunne and Lowry are better defenders than attackers so i think he will go for more attack minded full backs for the style of play he wants to implement, either in this window or next. Lets see what happens, whatever does happen it's bloody brilliant anyway....

Jesus Christ - talk about euphoria overtaking logic. Far too many want to get your feet back on the ground and your heads out your a***. It's a long hard season in a tough league of a game where you can sign great players and not get a team. All a bit Palace on here and I wonder how many of you are over 12.
