MILLWALL midfielder Liam Trotter has gone under the knife to correct a knee problem and will now miss the start of the season.
The 24-year-old is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks but the Lions are hopeful that he can resume full training "in the early part of the season."
Trotter has been struggling with his knee since April and missed much of the run in at the end of the 2012-13 campaign because of it, only returning on the final day against Derby.
Speaking after that game, he said: "It's been disappointing. I always want to play and be involved. It's worse when you don't really know exactly what the injury is or why it's giving you problems. My knee isn't 100 per cent but I was able to come through 90 minutes."
