SHANE Lowry scored his first senior goal as Millwall completed a smash and grab victory at League One-bound Coventry City.

Keeper Maik Taylor saved a Gary McSheffrey penalty less than ten minutes before Lowry buried a close-range header from Alan Dunne's first-time cross midway through the second half.

Victory was Millwall's fourth in a row and moved them to within two points of 16th-placed Crystal Palace. But the Sky Blues, now five points adrift of safety with two games to go, are on the verge of relegation.

Taylor's penalty save was just one of several decisive interventions from the Leeds United loanee as he pulled off a string of fine saves throughout the match to keep Andy Thorn's side at bay.

Cody McDonald's 33rd-minute volley looked destined for the top corner until Taylor tipped it around the post at full-stretch.

Andy Keogh and James Henry both spurned good chances to add a second for the Lions, who are now one of the division's form sides going into the final weeks of the campaign.

Coventry City: Murphy, Keogh, Hussey, Clingan, Bell (Baker, 63mins), McSheffrey, McDonald, Crainie, Norwood, Platt, Clarke.

Millwall: Taylor, Smith, Craig, Abdou, Ward (Dunne, 59mins), Lowry, Barron, Wright (Trotter, 46mins), Keogh, Kane, Henry.
