Jackett calls for strong finish after Millwall secure survival

MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett has set his sights on finishing as high up the Championship table as possible after watching his side secure their second-tier status.

The Lions moved 10 points clear of the relegation zone with three games of the season remaining with a 2-1 win over Leicester at The Den on Saturday, thus mathematically guaranteeing survival.

But Jackett insists there will be no let-up from his players.

"We do want to finish strongly," he told the club's official website. "We want to finish as high up the division as possible.

"Our first remit in the second half of the season was to stay up, but we want to finish well this year in order to do well next year and we have three games to do that."

The Lions travel to the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday evening to face a Coventry side on the verge of relegation to League One and Jackett has hinted he could make changes to his side.

19-goal target man Darius Henderson could be fit to travel after recovering from a calf injury.

"I thought the Leicester game was quite a tired game from both sides. It was a battle and scrap. We have played a high amount of games and we will need to freshen the team up on Tuesday.

"I think Henderson will be fit – if not by Tuesday then by Saturday. He will be a big addition for us because we can do with his fresh impetus and energy.

"Andy Keogh and Jack Smith picked up slight knocks today but we will see how they develop over the weekend."
