MILLWALL have pledged to match donations to a legal fund needed for a High Court review of the government's decision to shut down the A&E and maternity departments at Lewisham Hospital.
The Lions have long been staunch supporters of the campaign to save the hospital and are now helping to raise half of the £20,000 needed to cover the costs of a judicial review.
For every £1 that is donated online via paypal, Millwall will match it with another £1 until the first £10,000 of the fund is reached.
Chief executive Andy Ambler said: "We are really hopeful that the judicial review will result in the key services at Lewisham Hospital which are under threat, being saved. We are happy to continue to play our part in supporting the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign."
Dr Louise Irvine, chair of the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign added: "This judicial review will be heard in the High Court from July 2-4. It is our chance to challenge the unjust decision that could see Lewisham losing its vital, popular, successful and solvent hospital."
